Green Bay Wedding Venues: Rooftop, Stadium or Farm

A restored 1924 hotel, a Broadway District hall, a rooftop on the Fox River, two country clubs and barns within 25 miles, with capacity for each.

Green Bay is a city of about 100,000 that feels bigger on a Sunday in autumn, when the Packers are at home and every hotel room for 30 miles is gone. That one fact shapes the choice of wedding venues Green Bay couples face more than anything else, so it is worth saying first: check the Packers schedule before you fall in love with a date.

After that, the choice is wide. Downtown has a restored 1920s hotel, an all-inclusive hall in the Broadway District and a rooftop over the Fox River. The edges of town have country clubs, a botanical garden and new event centres, and within about 25 miles you reach farm barns in Pulaski and Brillion. This guide covers all of them, with the capacity each venue publishes and the straight-line distance from downtown.

Downtown and the river

Downtown Green Bay sits on both banks of the Fox River where it empties into the bay. Staying downtown means guests can walk between the hotel, the ceremony and the bars afterward, which is the main reason couples choose it.

Hotel Northland opened in 1924 on North Adams Street and reopened in 2019 after a full restoration, keeping its Art Deco detailing. It is on the National Register of Historic Places and now part of Marriott's Autograph Collection.

The Crystal Ballroom takes the bigger weddings, and the smaller Walnut Room suits a short guest list or a rehearsal dinner. With rooms upstairs, the whole weekend can happen in one building.

Gather on Broadway is an all-inclusive hall in the Broadway District, on the west bank of the river. The room is brick walls, exposed steel trusses and café lights, with a bridal suite for getting ready.

Food is the draw. The kitchen is in-house, with its own pastry side doing cakes and dessert tables, and reviewers single out the dinner more often than the décor. It is women-owned and openly LGBTQ+-friendly.

The Terrace at Marina Circle is a rooftop event space on the sixth floor of a building on the Fox River. Ceremonies happen on the outdoor stone terrace with the river behind, and the reception moves inside to a 2,000-square-foot room with floor-to-ceiling windows and gold chandeliers.

It holds about 225. It is the most city-feeling of Green Bay's venues, and the sunset from the terrace is the reason to book it.

For a view of the bay itself rather than the river, The View at South Bay is a waterfront room run by a local distillery, with signature drinks from its own spirits and a patio for watching the sun go down. Its busy months are May through October; outside those, the room is easier to get and still looks out over the water.

Near Lambeau Field

Stadium View Bar & Event Halls sits in the Stadium District, a short walk from Lambeau Field. It has several halls of different sizes, which makes it a practical choice for a big family wedding on a budget.

It is not a quiet venue and does not pretend to be. For a lot of Green Bay families, that is exactly the point.

Lambeau Field itself hosts wedding receptions. Its Atrium, with four-storey windows, takes over 400 guests, and the stadium's events team runs the day. We have not included it as a separate listing here, since Google lists the building under the Packers Hall of Fame rather than as an event venue, but if your family bleeds green and gold it belongs on the shortlist.

The obvious caution for anything near the stadium: game days take over the whole district. Ask the venue directly how home games affect parking, noise and access.

Country clubs and gardens

Green Bay Country Club is a private club on the east side, about 5 miles from downtown in a straight line, with its own golf course. It hosts weddings from about 50 to 350 guests, with ceremonies outside over the course and a choice of plated, buffet or station dinners.

Membership is required for golf, but the wedding spaces are booked through the club's events team.

On the other side of town, Oneida Golf Club dates to 1899, one of the oldest clubs in the area, with a ballroom and grounds that photographers like in the fall. It is also members-only for golf, so ask the events office how non-member weddings work.

Green Bay Botanical Garden covers 47 acres on the west side, with several outdoor ceremony sites. The Kress Oval Garden has white arbours and a Grecian gazebo, and the Johnson Woodland Garden is quieter and shaded.

Receptions move into the Cornerstone Foundation Hall, which seats about 200 under high wood beams with windows onto the garden. It is the best option in Green Bay for a garden wedding with a proper indoor room as the rain plan.

East of downtown, Stonewood is a newer event centre with a pergola for outdoor ceremonies and a ballroom with big windows and a statement bar. Reviewers often mention that it feels more expensive than it is.

South in De Pere

The LedgeCrest Reserve opened in 2019 in De Pere, about 6 miles south of downtown, and holds about 400. Couples can marry indoors in front of a fireplace under five crystal chandeliers, or outside on a paved patio with its own outdoor fireplace.

It is women-owned and built for weddings. One honest note from reviews: on some packages you handle more of the setup yourself than you might expect, so read what is included before you sign.

North: Pulaski and Suamico

The Barn at Sunset Acres in Pulaski, about 16 miles northwest of downtown, is a 12-acre property with gardens, a pond and a barn reception hall that holds about 400. There is a bridal suite, a groom's room and a family room for the quieter moments before the ceremony.

The detail that sets it apart is lodging: six cottages on the property, including one for the couple. Tables, chairs, bartenders and lawn games come with the rental.

Vickery Village in Suamico, about 8 miles north of downtown, is a cluster of restored historic buildings, shops and restaurants around an outdoor wedding venue. Ceremonies happen at the gazebo or under the pavilion, and the reception follows in the pavilion.

Guests can wander the gardens and the village between the ceremony and dinner. Reviewers often mention that it is easy with children around.

The Brillion barns, 23 miles south

Brillion, about 23 miles south of downtown in a straight line, has an unusual cluster of barn venues within a couple of miles of each other. Round Lake Farms and Stone Prairie share an owner and booking team, and Stone Prairie's glass-walled greenhouse room is a real alternative to a barn.

Close by are Carstens Mill and Cobblestone Creek. None of the Brillion venues has photos on our listings yet, so call or visit before you shortlist one.

Closer to Appleton, Simply Country Barn sits about 18 miles southwest of Green Bay near Freedom, a smaller country barn for couples who want something more relaxed than an event centre.

If barns are what you want, the barn wedding venues across Wisconsin include these alongside the barns around Madison, Sheboygan and Door County.

Choosing by guest count

Green Bay has more large venues than most Wisconsin cities, which helps with big families.

For 200 or fewer, Hotel Northland, Gather on Broadway, The Terrace at Marina Circle and the Botanical Garden all work, and each has a distinct feel: historic hotel, industrial hall, rooftop, garden.

For 250 to 400, look at The LedgeCrest Reserve, The Barn at Sunset Acres, Green Bay Country Club and the larger halls at Stadium View. Lambeau's Atrium goes beyond that.

For a small wedding, Hotel Northland's Walnut Room is the obvious downtown choice.

Capacities are the figures the venues or the main wedding directories publish. Confirm with the venue, since the number moves with a dance floor or a buffet.

Rehearsal dinners and welcome drinks

A Green Bay wedding weekend usually needs a second room for Friday night, and the city has good options that are not the wedding venue itself.

Downtown, Hotel Northland's Walnut Room is the easy answer if guests are staying in the hotel. Gather on Broadway does private dinners as well as weddings, and its kitchen is the main reason people book it. For drinks by the water, The View at South Bay has the patio and the sunset over the bay.

If the wedding is out at a barn, keep the rehearsal dinner in town. Guests will be staying in Green Bay or De Pere anyway, and nobody wants two long drives in one weekend.

Winter weddings in Green Bay

Green Bay winters are long and cold, and outdoor ceremonies are realistic from about late May to early October. That leaves a lot of the year for indoor weddings, which are easier to book and often cheaper.

The venues that handle winter best are the ones that never needed the outdoors: Hotel Northland's ballroom, Gather on Broadway, the indoor fireplace ceremony at The LedgeCrest Reserve and the Cornerstone Foundation Hall at the Botanical Garden, where the garden outside still makes a backdrop in snow. Barns vary, so ask whether a barn is heated before you consider it for anything outside the summer.

One more winter factor: football. A December home game fills the hotels as fast as an October one.

Where to take photos

Most Green Bay couples take some photos away from the venue. The Fox River runs right through downtown, with riverfront paths on both banks near Hotel Northland and the Broadway District. The Botanical Garden is worth a stop even if you are not marrying there, though you need to arrange photography with the garden first.

And for a lot of families, a picture in front of Lambeau Field is not optional. It is about 3 miles from downtown in a straight line, close enough to fit between the ceremony and the reception.

Booking and Packers weekends

May through October is the main season, and Saturdays in September and October overlap with football. Hotel rooms are the bottleneck on a home-game weekend: they sell out early and prices rise. If your date lands on one, block rooms the day you book the venue, or choose a Friday or a bye week.

Green Bay's airport is on the west side of the city, close to Oneida and the Botanical Garden, which makes the city an easy base for guests flying in. Milwaukee is about 102 miles south in a straight line.

Ask every venue what is included. Green Bay's newer event centres tend to bundle tables, chairs, bar staff and setup, while the clubs and hotels price catering per guest. Those two models are hard to compare until you put them side by side.

Beyond Green Bay

The Fox River keeps going south about 26 miles to Appleton and its riverbank venues, where the wedding venues sit along the riverbank downtown and barns take over west of town, with Oshkosh beyond.

Heading north instead, Door County starts about 38 miles away at Sturgeon Bay, and its lodges and lakefront venues turn a wedding into a full weekend.

And if Green Bay is only one option on your list, the rest of Wisconsin offers five other wedding regions: Lake Geneva, Milwaukee, Madison, Door County and the lakeshore.
