Sheboygan sits on Lake Michigan about 50 miles north of Milwaukee, and Sheboygan wedding venues cover more ground, and more price points, than almost anywhere else in Wisconsin. Within about 20 miles you can marry at a Forbes Five-Star resort, on a sand beach, on bluffs above the lake, in a vineyard tent or in a barn on a working farm.
This guide groups Sheboygan wedding venues by area: Kohler, the lakeshore, the Kettle Moraine side to the west, the halls and supper clubs inland, and the barns. Distances are straight-line from downtown Sheboygan.
Kohler: the resort weddings
It is the only Forbes Five-Star hotel in Wisconsin, with 241 rooms on site and the factory where the building's story began still across the street. All food and drink come from the resort, and a wedding coordinator is required. Wedding Spot estimates a ceremony and reception for 100 guests at around $19,900 to $22,300 all in, with the room fees themselves a small part of that: $500 to $1,000 for the reception space, and $2,000 for a ceremony on its own.
The resort's other venues add options at different scales. The Village at 170 in Kohler is a smaller, warmer space for intimate weddings, rehearsal dinners and after-parties.
On the lakeshore
For the lake itself, three venues sit right on it. Blue Harbor Resort is on the beach in Sheboygan, with ceremonies under a trellis on the sand, rooms for up to about 500, hotel rooms and an indoor waterpark that keeps children busy between the ceremony and dinner.
About 7 miles north, Whistling Straits is Destination Kohler's championship course on the bluffs above the lake, the host of the 2021 Ryder Cup. Its wedding space is the Irish Barn, a fieldstone building styled on an Irish country barn, with its whole east side open to the course. It seats about 120, or 200 with an added tent, and takes up to 250 for a ceremony. Two miles further, the red barn at Lake Orchard Farm Retreat holds up to about 350, with the lake behind it.
Not every venue that mentions the lake is on it, and the Lake Michigan venues along the whole Wisconsin shore are sorted by which ones actually sit on the water.
The Kettle Moraine side: SoLu in Cascade
West of Sheboygan the land rises into the Kettle Moraine, a ridge of glacial hills, kettle lakes and farmland. It feels a long way from the lakeshore resorts, and the prices are a long way from them too.
The details are what couples remember: a bunkhouse and a mini cabin for getting ready, a tractor and wagon to carry guests out to the ceremony, and dogs welcome. You can bring your own caterer and vendors, though not your own alcohol, and the winery's mead makes a toast with a story.
Put The American Club and SoLu side by side and you have the full range of a Sheboygan County wedding in about 17 miles. At the resort, a 100-guest wedding runs to roughly $20,000 with food and drink included. At SoLu, the whole estate on a Saturday costs $5,500 before catering, and a ceremony on its own costs $700. The comparison is not exact, since SoLu lets you choose your own caterer, but it shows how wide the choice is.
Halls and supper clubs inland
Also near Random Lake, Five Pillars Supper Club is a family-run supper club with banquet halls: prime rib, broasted chicken, a fish fry and an old-fashioned at the bar. It is a classic choice for a rehearsal dinner, and reviews are mixed enough on value that you should taste the menu before booking a reception there.
Barns
About 12 miles south near Oostburg, Blue Barn on the Green sits on more than five acres of lawn and mature trees, with a patio for cocktails and room for up to about 175.
History and the edges of the county
At Greenbush, about 19 miles west, Wade House is a state historic site built around an 1850s stagecoach inn, with grounds that suit a small, old-fashioned ceremony.
Further west in Kewaskum, Foundry 45 is an event venue in Washington County, and to the south, Port Washington's Memories Ballroom is a large banquet hall in a harbor town about 22 miles from Sheboygan.

Where guests stay
Kohler and Blue Harbor have rooms on site. The Stonehouse sleeps up to 20, enough for the wedding party. Everyone else will stay in Sheboygan or Kohler, so for an inland venue like SoLu, Willow Falls or the barns, book a hotel block in town and plan transport: rural roads in the Kettle Moraine are dark at 11pm.
Milwaukee is about 50 miles south in a straight line, so many guests can drive up on the day. For a full weekend, Sheboygan's beach, the Kohler shops and the Kettle Moraine State Forest give guests plenty to do between events.
Beyond Sheboygan County
SoLu is one of seven Wisconsin wineries that host weddings, and the only one that publishes all its prices.
The barns here sit alongside barns across Wisconsin, from Madison to Door County.
And Sheboygan is one region among six across the state, the one with the widest range of prices in the smallest area.
