Pick the wrong side of the street here and you pay for it twice: once in the walk to the sand, and again in the valet line at check-out. The range of Clearwater Beach hotels runs from a family-owned resort with its own nightclub to towers with pools on the 11th floor, and the real differences are where the building sits, whether its sand is private or public, and what gets added to the nightly rate. What follows sorts them by street, north to south, with the fees each hotel publishes.
A few ground rules before the hotels. Distances below are straight-line from Pier 60, the fishing pier and park at the foot of the Memorial Causeway, so real walking routes run a little longer. Fees come from each hotel's own website as of October 2026, and they change, so treat every number as a starting point and confirm it on the booking screen.

How the beach splits for hotels
Clearwater Beach hotels fall into four zones: the quiet north beach, the crowded strip around Pier 60, the tower resorts on South Gulfview Blvd, and Sand Key across the pass. Each one trades noise against price and walking distance in a different way.
Clearwater Beach is a barrier island joined to downtown Clearwater by the Memorial Causeway, which lands at a traffic circle locals just call the roundabout. Mandalay Ave is the main north-south street, running from the roundabout up through the north beach. South of the pier, the road splits: South Gulfview Blvd hugs the Gulf side and Coronado Dr runs one block inland, toward the harbor.
Where to stay in Clearwater Beach comes down to one question: do you want to hear the beach or the bars? North of the roundabout, Mandalay Ave quiets down into residential streets, low-rise inns and Sandpearl, the one big resort up there with its own sand. Around Pier 60 you get the busiest public beach, the nightly sunset crowd on the pier and the widest choice of restaurants within a few blocks. South Gulfview is where the high-rises live, and it matters which side of the road each one is on. Sand Key, the island south of Clearwater Pass and over the bridge, is quieter again, with wider private beaches and a county park next door.
The street-side question is the one that catches people out, so each listing below says where the sand actually starts. A hotel can call itself beachfront with a crosswalk between the lobby and the sand, and on the south end some hotels face a short, shelly stretch of shoreline instead of the wide public beach.
North beach hotels
North beach is smaller, quieter and walkable to the Frenchy's restaurants and the old beach inns along Bay Esplanade. You give up the pier crowd and gain a beach where you can usually find room for a towel.
Sandpearl sits about 350 feet in a straight line from Frenchy's Original Cafe, the grouper-sandwich shack on Baymont St that opens at 11 am daily. Sandpearl is about 0.4 miles north of Pier 60, so the pier sunset is a stroll down the sand, not an expedition.
For a smaller, older-style stay, Palm Pavilion Inn at 18 Bay Esplanade has rooms, studios and apartments a few steps from the sand, with a pool, next door to Crabby's Beachside Pavilion, the old Palm Pavilion grill under new owners. Reviewers like the local feel and the location and are honest that rooms are small and some bathrooms dated. Since March 23, 2026 the inn charges a $25 daily amenity fee plus tax, which includes a daily beach chair and umbrella rental the inn values at $30. Ask about parking when you book, since one recent guest reported paying for it.
The inn is about 0.1 miles from Frenchy's Rockaway Grill, the beachside Frenchy's on Rockaway St that stays open until 11 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Palm Pavilion Inn is about 0.55 miles north of Pier 60, the far end of the walkable zone.
On the bay side, Courtyard by Marriott Clearwater Beach at 455 East Shore Dr faces the harbor, not the Gulf. Guests describe an easy one-block walk to the beach and a rooftop bar with a view. Valet is $38 a day per the hotel, and one guest reported a $34 daily resort fee on top, so price the total before you compare it with a beachfront room. Dogs are welcome for $75 a stay.
Clearwater Beach hotels around Pier 60
Around Pier 60, the Hilton sits right on the busiest sand, while the Wyndham Grand and Pier House 60 sit a street back, toward the marina. Stay here if you want to walk everywhere and don't mind company on the beach.
One honest tip from a guest: north-facing and some beach-view rooms look down on rows of rooftop air conditioning units, so ask for a Gulf-facing room away from them.
Just south of the pier park, Wyndham Grand Clearwater Beach at 100 Coronado Dr is a tower with a spa, two bars and Gulf views about 0.15 miles from Pier 60. Its $35 resort fee is one of the better deals on the strip, because it includes two beach chairs and an umbrella each day, which you'd otherwise rent. Parking is valet only at $42 a night plus tax, the minimum check-in age is 21, and only service animals are allowed.
Pier House 60 Clearwater Beach Marina Hotel at 101 Coronado Dr is across the street from the sand and directly on the marina, about 0.1 miles from the pier. Its rooftop bar, Jimmy's Crows Nest, opens at noon and runs until 2 am on Fridays and Saturdays, so non-guests come up for the sunset too. Guests say parking was included in their rate and the continental breakfast is fine but short on variety, so it's a solid pick for a family that will live at the beach and the marina.
Clearwater Beach resorts on South Gulfview Blvd
South Gulfview Blvd is the hotel strip that runs south from Pier 60 toward the Sand Key bridge, and it's where the tall resorts are. Some sit directly on the sand, and some are across the road from it, which is worth knowing before you pay for a Gulf view.
Opal Sands Resort at 430 South Gulfview Blvd has 230 Gulf-front rooms and a gentle sand ramp from the pool deck down to the beach, which is about as direct as beach access gets. The $35 resort fee covers pool and beach towels, two bikes a day and a guest pantry on each floor with fruit and cookies, and dogs are welcome. Opal does not publish its parking rate, saying only that the fee is shown at booking.
Guests rave about Seaguini, the Italian-leaning seafood restaurant in the building, and the beach bar, Sandbar, which serves fish tacos until 9 pm. A reviewer in a one-bedroom with kitchenette wished she'd booked the larger one-bedroom for its tub and full-size fridge, a useful tip for longer stays.
At the south end of the strip, JW Marriott Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa at 691 South Gulfview Blvd has the priciest published parking in this guide: valet only, $48 a night. The $40 resort fee includes daily beach chairs and an umbrella on its private beach, and every room has a balcony. Dogs up to 40 lbs are allowed for $150 a stay, though not on the beach or pool deck.
The 11th-floor rooftop pool deck holds The Deep End, a casual restaurant with beach views, and Latitude 28 handles dinner from Tuesday to Saturday. A St Pete local who stayed on a quiet August Sunday found no fight for chairs at the beach or pool, so that's the time to book if you want the place to yourself.
Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach Resort and Suites at 301 South Gulfview Blvd is the one to read carefully: it's across the street from the sand, with direct access, and the public beach in front can get five rows deep. What you get in return is space: suites with full kitchens, west-facing balconies for sunsets and a kids' pool. The hotel lists a $35 daily resort fee, subject to change; check its parking page for current valet and self-parking rates. It sits about 0.25 miles south of Pier 60.
Cheaper towers on the same strip
Edge Hotel Clearwater Beach at 505 South Gulfview Blvd packages its extras honestly: a $37 nightly amenity fee includes continental breakfast and covered parking. Guests say rooms start on the sixth floor, the hotel lists two pools including a glass-wall pool, and one guest put the beach about 300 feet away. Upstairs, Jimmy's on the Edge is a rooftop bar open until 1 am every night.
Next door, Holiday Inn & Suites Clearwater Beach at 521 South Gulfview Blvd has rooms a recent guest called freshly renovated, plus the hotel's Jimmy's Fish House & Iguana Bar, which opens at 7 am for breakfast with a Gulf view. Be clear on the beach: one reviewer found a rocky shoreline out back and walked a couple of blocks to swimmable sand. Parking is included in the resort fee with one pass per reservation, and pets are not allowed.
Shephard's Beach Resort at 619 South Gulfview Blvd has been family owned since 1977 and is the loud option, on purpose. Live bands play nightly on the stage at Shephard's Tiki Beach Bar & Grill, which stays open until 2 am on weekends, and the resort's own site warns that nightclub music may be heard in all studio rooms on club nights. Regulars come back for the scene; one unhappy guest found the beach out front shelly and shaded in the morning, so it's for people who came to party, not sunbathe at 9 am. Shephard's does not list its fees on its website, so check them at booking.
Clearwater Beach hotels with breakfast and kitchens
The mid-priced hotels are where you find free breakfast and kitchens, most of them a block or less from the sand. Most list no resort fee on their own sites, but parking still costs.
If breakfast is the deciding factor, breakfast on Clearwater Beach is good enough to justify skipping the hotel spread on one morning for a diner or a beach cafe.
Two Marriott-brand hotels share the address 309 Coronado Dr, one block inland: Residence Inn by Marriott Clearwater Beach with full kitchens, and SpringHill Suites by Marriott Clearwater Beach with all-suite rooms. Both serve a free hot breakfast from 6:30 am on weekdays and 7 am on weekends, and both are valet only, at $38 and $41 a day. Pets are $150 a stay at either, up to two under 50 lbs.
A Residence Inn guest flagged the trade-off: the bar plays music until 2 am, and odd-numbered rooms face it, so ask for an even number if you sleep early. The beach is across the street, reached through the surf shop or past the Hyatt, about 0.3 miles from Pier 60.
AC Hotel Clearwater Beach at 395 Coronado Dr is the design-forward pick, one block from the sand, with the Salt & Sky Rooftop Bar on top. Parking is $38 a day, pets are $75 a stay, and it's a short walk from the marina where boat tours leave.
For a simpler room with private sand on South Gulfview, Gulfview Hotel at 625 South Gulfview Blvd has balconies and small kitchenettes with stovetops, a heated pool and a hot tub. Its private beach is a narrow section, about 50 feet wide by one guest's estimate, so walk north along the shore if you want the wide public stretch. Staff hand out beach towels, sand toys and chairs if you ask, and lobby coffee is free.
Sand Key hotels
Sand Key has two big Marriott-family resorts next to Sand Key Park: the Sheraton on its own private beach, and the Marriott Suites across Gulf Blvd, which ferries guests over to the park. It's quieter than the main beach, and you'll ride a trolley or drive back over the bridge for nightlife.
Just north, Clearwater Beach Sheraton Resort on Sand Key at 1160 Gulf Blvd has 13 acres of private beach that guests like for shelling. Self-parking is $30 a day and pets are not allowed. Bring your own chairs or budget for them: one guest paid about $70 a day for three.
Both hotels sit beside Sand Key Park, the county beach park at 1060 Gulf Blvd, about 0.25 miles from the Sheraton.
Getting back to the main beach is easy without a car: the Jolley Trolley runs routes seven days a week from Clearwater Beach, and its tracker app shows where the next one is.
Hotels in Clearwater FL, off the beach
Hotels in Clearwater on the mainland are cheaper and often park free, but you trade the walk to the sand for a drive or a trolley ride over the causeway. It's the right call if you're here for spring training, a business trip or a budget week where the beach is a daytime outing.
Holiday Inn Express & Suites Clearwater/US 19 N at 2580 Gulf to Bay Blvd is a useful example: free parking, a free breakfast from 6:30 to 9:30 am and a heated outdoor pool. The breakfast earns real praise, with biscuits and gravy and a pancake maker, and rooms get mixed reviews, so check recent ones before booking. It's about 6 miles east of the beach in a straight line, pets are not allowed, and the hotel puts St Pete-Clearwater International Airport about 5 miles away.
If you're flying in, getting here from the airport is part of the math: a mainland room near the airport works for a late arrival, while a beach room makes more sense when you'll park the car for the week.
Fees, parking and chairs at Clearwater Beach hotels
Expect a nightly resort fee and paid parking at the beach resorts, and expect to pay for chairs if the fee doesn't include them. Add both to the room rate before you compare two hotels, because they can move the nightly total by $70 or more.
Resort fees at the big beach hotels cluster around $35 to $40 a night: Sandpearl, Opal Sands, Wyndham Grand and the Hyatt list $35, the JW Marriott lists $40, and the Hilton's was about $40 on Travelocity. Smaller places use the gentler word amenity fee: $25 at Palm Pavilion Inn and $37 at the Edge, the latter covering breakfast and parking. The Marriott-brand hotels on Coronado Dr and the Hampton list no resort fee on their own pages.
Parking on the beach runs from $25 a day for self-parking at the Hampton to $48 a night for valet at the JW Marriott, and many hotels are valet only. Day-trippers and anyone leaving the car at a cheaper hotel should read up on beach parking in the city lots and garages before assuming a spot.
Chairs are the sneaky one. The Wyndham Grand and JW Marriott fold two chairs and an umbrella into the resort fee and Palm Pavilion Inn includes them in its amenity fee, while guests at the Hilton and the Sheraton report paying separately.
The rest of the small print: check-in at the Opal properties is 4 pm and check-out 11 am, the Wyndham requires guests to be 21 to check in, and pet rules vary from dogs-welcome to service-animals-only. Fees here were checked in October 2026 and get reviewed every six months, so the booking screen has the final word.
