Book the king room/appt with sofa for best bay view sunrises, shoutout for Isabel for that. We mentioned a note to put the room away from the nearby bar and made sure it went through. There was construction happening in the lobby which was pretty loud in the day and surprised us the day of our arrival, and it was super busy in the pool and did not seem as hyenic- maybe cause it was the last week before school starts so the hotel seemed pretty booked. Glad we were put on the fifth floor because we did not hear anything. Prepare to wake up early for the great views and breakfast to avoid crowds after8-8:30 am. Cleanliness was ok, bathroom was spacious, sofa was a bit dated and needed some deep cleaning, roll out bed was not comfortable so best option was to sleep on the sofa for a third traveler, kitchen was convenient (I'd recommend using Uber Eats to get a supermarket delivery or Instacart etc on your first day.. as Surf style gets pretty expensive on groceries). Location is convenient and just across the street from the beach and the trolly so that's one of the main reasons we went for this hotel. Gym is good, a bit small, but we didn't have the time to use it in our stay!

We enjoyed our stay at the Residence Inn in Clearwater. The location was fabulous with the bay on the back side of the property and the beach just a short walk across the street either through the surf shop or just past the Hyatt hotel. Pier 60 is within 10 minutes easy walking distance. We stayed in the one bedroom suite with two queen beds. It was comfortable and spacious. Lots of storage space. The full size fridge was great as we stored bottled drinks and snacks in there and used the icemaker. The valet service was very convenient and prompt. There are two negative issues. The first is the loud music playing at Coco’s bar next to the hotel at night. The music is good but you just have to be prepared to hear it all night. We actually had a nice sit down lunch at Coco’s Bar. Service was good there. We called and ordered pizza and wings from King’s Pizza that we took to the beach. The other negative is their way of overbooking the hotel. My brother had a reservation for Saturday check in. He booked directly through Marriott. On Friday afternoon he got an email from “lodging dynamics” stating that there is some issue with his credit card and to contact them before 7 pm to discuss or else they will cancel the booking. First of all, they gave him less than three hours notice to reply to this message. Secondly, my brother was at a theme park in Orlando at the time so isn’t going to read this email in time. Thirdly, he wouldn’t be inclined to read an email from Lodging dynamics because it sounds like pfishing or a scam (since it was not from a Mariott official email account). When we finally talking to the front desk later on Friday night about the reservation for Saturday, then said HIS RESERVATION WAS CANCELED AND THEY CANT HELP HIM. They purposely found a way to cancel his reservation because they were overbooked. They had no rooms of any type available for him. Calling the front desk or Mariott’s corporate didn’t help. The next morning I went to the front desk and was told by the manager that they were overbooked by nine rooms. THAT ISNT OUT FAULT. WE BOOKED IN ADVANCE AND RHE METHOD OF PAYMENT IS GOOD. I didn’t accept NO for an answer and just stood there and waited. Finally the manager agreed to reactivate my brother’s reservation and he was able to check in that day as planned. He didn’t complain that they put him in a room with one King bed even though he booked a room with two queen beds for his family of four. He was just happy to get a room. I think Marriott needs to do better and not allow the overbooking to happen. Lastly, I like that they let you check out as many pool towels as needed. I think they should have a shelf near the front desk where you can grab it. Else sometimes you have to stand in line waiting for a front desk employee to be free to go grab a towel from the back. This happens during peak check in hours. Overall, I like the convenient location of the hotel, the spacious rooms, the prompt valet, and fast elevators. Main dislike is the loud noise from the bar and the issue with the canceled reservation.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay from beginning to end. The hotel is beautifully maintained, and our suite was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable. The area is incredibly cozy, and the overall atmosphere felt modern, relaxing, and welcoming. Every team member we encountered was friendly and professional, making the experience even more enjoyable. The property is clean, well cared for, and truly feels like a place where guests are valued. A special thank you to John G. in valet, as he went above and beyond with his kindness and professionalism. He made every arrival and departure smooth and stress-free, and his warm attitude really stood out. We’re already looking forward to our next stay!
