Was here a long time ago. Someone had given us a gift certificate, so we had an excellent reason to return. Glad that we did. Food: As the name implies, this is a meat-focused place. Their menu puts meat front and center, with portions ranging from 8 oz all the way up to 360 oz. Who eats that much? Check out YouTube if you want to find out. Anyway, back to our meal. We started with a couple of signature cocktails: a Blackberry Smash for me and a Fall Manhattan for her. Both were excellent, with great flavor and plenty of alcohol. They lasted throughout the entire meal. I ordered the pan-seared sea bass, and she got the 8 oz prime rib. While we waited, they brought out a couple of small bread rolls with plain butter, a delicious way to start. We also had salads, and I upgraded to a Caesar ($4). Both were good, with nicely toasted croutons, though the house salad was a bit uninspiring, with just a few small veggies. The entrées didn’t take long to arrive. The sea bass was very good. The white wine dill sauce had great flavor and covered the entire fish, but it was a bit salty for me. I upgraded to the Brussels sprouts, which were nicely roasted, flavorful, and a good portion. The prime rib was cooked to a perfect medium-rare and was very tender. Overall, the food was very good. The presentation, however, was a bit disappointing. It felt like there was little attention to plating. For example, the sea bass was swimming in sauce, which was splattered around the perimeter of the plate. That same lack of care showed up on several of the dishes. Service: Excellent service throughout the evening. We received a friendly greeting from the owner/host and were quickly seated in the adjacent dining room. Both servers did a great job taking care of us. Water, drinks, and everything else were well attended to. They checked in just enough to make sure we were taken care of without making us feel rushed. Thanks to Desi and Jasmine. Atmosphere: The main dining room is next to the bar and has a TV, which I’m not a fan of. I much prefer the separate dining room, which is quieter and more relaxing. The design is simple but feels just upscale enough. Overall, a very good experience. I would go back again.

If there's a hidden gem restaurant in Milwaukee, without question it's Ward's House of Prime. I'm always down for a Prime Rib whenever available, and they absolutely win every time on delivering an excellent prime rib. Last time I was here the restaurant was totally empty on a weekend, very quiet with no loud music and good soundproofing from the bar area out front. I have no idea why this restaurant was empty. The service was phenomenal, the drinks were amazing and the food is stellar with very reasonable prices on food even for how expensive Prime Rib can be. Easily my stand outs are the Prime Rib (of course), the stellar Pork Belly appetizer, and the scallops on the side. I also enjoyed the chocolate cake dessert which was so phenomenal, very rich with lots of chocolate. My dad enjoyed his old fashioned, and we tried the Japanese Highball and it was outstanding and very refreshing. I also loved the selection of whiskey and bourbons, and this restaurant is where I tried Hibiki Japanese Whiskey for the first time and it was amazing. I absolutely recommend this restaurant. If you're looking for a great restaurant in Milwaukee and you're in the mood for a more quiet and laid back environment with great food, Ward's is easily the winner.
The food was excellent. The service was great, and the atmosphere was welcoming. I had Lobster bisque, 16 oz prime rib with three seared scallops. That was the special. I also had mashed potatoes. All were delicious. I was full, so I got carrot cake to bring home. And, that was good too. Our server Tim was friendly.
