The WURKestra is a musical collaboration between Madison funk-fusion group Wurk and the DB Orchestra, a 17-piece big band. Conceived by saxophonist Daniel Haschke and DB Orchestra leader Andy Kerber, the ensemble merges Wurk's progressive rock and funk grooves with the brass power of a full jazz orchestra.
The project features nearly 20 musicians playing trumpets, trombones, saxophones, percussion, and sousaphone. Performances feature over two hours of bold brass arrangements of Wurk original songs, reimagined popular covers, and original compositions created specifically for the WURKestra.
