This beautifully renovated hotel boasts spacious guest rooms with comfy beds, excellent soundproofing to block out outside noise, ensuring a restful night’s sleep. We were especially impressed with the amenities, like the kitchenette with a refrigerator and complimentary coffee, and the laundry room with an iron and clothing steamer. The bar/lounge is a lovely spot to unwind and enjoy a craft cocktail. Plus, there’s a deli/cafe and wine shop right next door, offering tasty fresh sandwiches and a great selection of wines. . I was particularly impressed with the amenities such as the kitchenette with a refrigerator and complementary coffee to the laundry room with iron and clothing steamer. The bar/lounge is a lovely place to gather to enjoy a craft cocktail. Adjacent to the bar is deli/cafe and wine shop with tasty fresh sandwiches and a nice selection of wines. My husband and I look forward to staying again soon.

10/10 - Exceptional service & accommodations. Beautifully restored and so much thought put into all the details. The staff is amazing, the rooms are spotless and comfortable. The bathroom has heated tile floors and a walk-in shower that was very nice. The attached bar & lounge is a great space and we enjoyed talking with the bartenders and there was a trivia night happening when we walked in. Highly recommend!

Lovely redone old hotel. Room are spacious and beautiful- very nicely furnished with comfortable places to sit. Bathroom is super nice and we loved the shower and heated floor. It had a nice little bar where we had a drink. The kitchen on the 3rd floor was great with a coffee machine and muffins in the morning. All of this for a reasonable price!

First impressions are everything and this lovely historic hotel did not disappoint! Right away you know you are walking into something really special. Greeted warmly by staff who makes you feel like an old friend. There is a nice bar for food and drinks right inside where you get to know locals like to meet up here and welcome the “strangers” too. Get this! A kitchen is available to us to use here with a lovely sit down area to play games, read a book or just talk. Our room (306) was just beautiful with a leather wrapped headboard on the king bed, a desk with a flat screen mounted above a comfy chair - ok lets talk about these floors now… wow! Plush carpet that looks like it would have fit the era and then there’s the HEATED bathroom tile floors!! Amazing, and if thats not enough, a walk-in tiled shower! They thought of everything to give you the most comfortable stay and feel a wee bit spoiled! If you are on the fence about staying here, get off it and book it! Only 14 rooms here so its quiet but yet in the heart of Viroqua!

Wonderful, historic hotel, lovingly restored, in the heart of Viroqua. Rooms are luxurious, spotless, and comfortable. Hotel staff are friendly and helpful. The 3rd-floor guest lounge features a coffee/espresso machine with Wonderstate coffee, large refrigerator, stove, and a huge microwave drawer. Complementary breakfast muffins are delicious, or walk to Maybe Lately's or Wonderstate Coffee for an exceptional hot breakfast. The Noble Rind deli and Hotel Fortney Lounge are downstairs, and you'll find Driftless Cafe and other great food and drink options elsewhere in town nearby. Hotel Fortney is a great spot for a weekend getaway, and I look forward to a return visit!
