I have been coming here for over 10 years, and today was the first time I have ever had an issue. My little sister and her friend had me buy them tickets to see backrooms online, so I did, and after I dropped them off I get a text from my sister saying they won't let them in without an ID. I was incredibly confused because this has never been an issue for me before. So I went in and spoke with the General Manager, who seemed to have a bit of an attitude, and she informed me they have to be 17 with an ID to see the movie, to which I responded by saying that this has never been an issue before and she told us it's a new rule. I spoke to my sister privately and I looked online, to which nothing said they had to be ID'd to see a movie. I went and spoke with an employee and told her about this and asked if there was anything we could do and they told us the only thing we can do is switch the movie or get refunded. We ended up switching their movie. Afterwards I told some people about the situation to which they said this has never been a problem before and it's a "new rule." I understand it is a rated R movie, but the reason I am upset is because there was no warning online or posted anywhere, and they were still able to purchase the tickets ahead of time. My suggestion is that if you make a new rule you post it all throughout the theatre, website and on social media so people can be informed and not just show up and be turned away. A lot of business will be lost if you continue to not pre inform people. Also take this as a warning that they will NOT let you see a movie rated R if you are under 17! Marcus Theaters, please fix this issue or at least make it a known fact.
