We visited Broken Oar on a Tuesday toward the end of summer, which worked really well for our family. The restaurant has a huge open space with lots of seating, and I imagine it can get pretty busy, but we had a great experience. We sat upstairs on the deck and had a really nice view of the river. The food was good! The fries had a great seasoning, and the kids’ burger was a really nice size for the price. It came on an incredibly soft bun, and my grade-schooler loved it so much that he ate the entire thing. The lobster mac and cheese was cheesy and comforting, and we also ordered the Caprese, which was good but I think would have been even better with a balsamic glaze. My only real complaint was the $1 charge for sauces. I understand charging for extras, but things like mayo for a burger or blue cheese dressing for wings are things I’d expect to come with the meal. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and especially loved the outdoor seating and river view. It was a great spot for a casual family meal.
