About

Listeman Arboretum is a botanical garden in Neillsville with 47 acres along the east bank of the Black River. We offer multiple connecting points to explore a full loop of about a mile, featuring several wooden bridges. Our trails lead to the Black River, providing views of the water. We also feature historical plaques that discuss local history and how our arboretum got its name.

Amazing trails, recommend! Photos from early winter walk.✨🌳 Two entrances (map below) and there are multiple connecting points to allow exploration. Couple of bridges to cross and access to view the “Black River”. Full loop can be around a mile depending on trails picked. Walked around winter time so expect much more color with the trees if you end visiting during the fall season.

Pretty quick hike, like 45 minutes but there are some elevated areas that make it feel like a bit more of a workout Overall this was just a quick stop while passing through but it was worth the time to sit by the river for a bit, and see a few of the wooden bridges Pretty interesting historical plaques throughout the hike, that discuss some of the local history and how the arboretum got its name

Beautiful area with nice easy hiking trails..you can take some trails off the main to the river bank and get some amazing views of the black river. Attached is a picture of the map, trails not labeled the best but you'll find those letters on wooden post so you know where you are. Lots of people with dogs off leash.

Beautiful easy to walk on trails winding through a beautiful, yet not dense forrest. The trails lead to the Black River, which is teeming with beauty and opportunities. Bring a camera, a book or a fishing pole and spend a few hrs getting lost in an adventure. The trails arent marked, so remember the river is to the West, and the enterance is in the East.

We had a wonderful walk through nature here, it's beautiful! Lots of birds singing, flowers everywhere, great views of the water, and it smells so nice. There is quite a bit of up and down here, nothing difficult, but it is not flat so be prepared for that. Also, one of the bridges is getting very close to collapsing, but we still crossed it without issue (they really need to get in and fix it before someone gets hurt). The trails are well defined, and there are a couple maps. We probably spent an hour here, but could have spent more time. My only other suggestion would be to make the informational signs easier to read. They're very reflective and the lettering isn't dark, so it is not easy to read them. Couple of Pokestops and gyms here for the Go players.
