The Swingin' Door Exchange feels like one of those places that locals quietly recommend because they know it will not disappoint. I stopped in for dinner and immediately noticed how relaxed the atmosphere was. Nothing felt rushed. I ordered the pot roast first, and it came out fork tender with gravy that soaked beautifully into the mashed potatoes underneath. I also tried the French onion soup which had a rich broth and a thick layer of melted cheese on top. The fish fry was another standout. The batter stayed crisp while the fish remained flaky and light inside. To finish things off, I shared a slice of carrot cake that was moist without being overly sweet. The entire meal felt like comfort food done properly. Nothing was trying too hard to impress, yet everything managed to leave an impression anyway.

So many I would never to ……. I so would after this visit! Where to begin!!! I would never order a pork sandwich…whelp yes yes I will in the future. My husband got the sandwich with the brussel sprouts..well dang it was absolutely amazing, no joke. The char, the candied pecans along with the aleoIi, such deep flavors. I saw the beets on the menu and was trying to find something to have with the beets…I would never, order chicken tenders..,,, but I DID and they were the best damn chicken tenders I have ever had. They are more of a cutlet but pretty sure that is why it was so incredibly delicious!! The corn flake batter memorable to say the least. Great waitress, kind, all smiles, and so polite!! When they say it’s a half hour for a table relax, have a drink at the bar, and 5 minutes later tada you have a table. Fantastic experience

Best fish fry in MKE hands down. The lake perch is so fresh that you can hear and smell lake Michigan in every bite. Brussel sprouts are a must try! So tasty and crispy. I love the choices of mucktails and NA beers and wine. Highly recommended historic place in Milwaukee.

A small but popular spot with visitors and the locals. Food was absolutely delicious, and offer daily specials as well with the usual menu. Seating is limited due to the size so I don’t recommend coming with a large group. There will also be a wait for any table but worth it. Ordered the Rueben, burgers, tuna melt, and much more. Drinks were good and strong.

I had always heard good things about Swinging Door when a friend's birthday came up that seemed like the perfect starting point for our night. We arrived, just us two, with two more coming and they told us it would be 45 minutes to an hour. In the meantime we were able to get drinks and waited in the overflow area in the lobby. We got seated almost exactly 45 minutes after arriving. The service was great. We were greeted right away to get our drink order and she stopped back on a regular basis throughout the meal. On to the food - we got the homemade chips with the Cajun ranch dressing then I got the mustard potato and sausage soup for an appetizer. I would have liked a little more sausage but the flavor was spot on. I then got the KC Burger which was really great. The burger was so juicy and flavorful. One of the better burgers I've had in Milwaukee. I can definitely see why its rated as some of the best bar food in Milwaukee. Its a little small inside but worth the wait.
