If you’re looking for a leisurely walk on a well-graded asphalt trail, this is a good choice. There are beautiful views of foliage and the wilderness that is inside the Milwaukee city limits, and then suddenly it opens up to the expansive lakefront. The only downside? This beautiful walking experience is marred by its own popularity. During its busiest times, there are dozens of bike riders whizzing by you at upwards of 25 to 30 mph. Most are polite and let you know they’re coming, but some arrogantly drive by, coming so close to hitting you that you can feel the shockwave of their speed on your left shoulder. Still, you can enjoy the trail on cold days when bike riders stay at home, during the winter, and on weekdays outside of commuting hours. It’s a rewarding experience when it’s not too crowded, and the trail goes on for many miles.
