I was surprised to discover one of the best dishes in Milwaukee at Comet Café! I went for brunch and order the meatloaf with beer gravy, 2 eggs, and the almond joy. I sat outside to 'people watch' and the weather was beautiful, too. My experience was fantastic and the meat loaf dish was 10/10... This dish is 2 meat slices topped with mashed potatoes and gravy, and garnished with red peppers and onions. My mind was blown over the flavor! This dish rocks! And I would recommend going to Comet Café specifically for their specialty coffee drinks. Absolutely delicious!!!

amazing vegan options! had the cauliflower buffalo dip, the fish fry, and buffalo wings. all of it was fantastic, but the fish fry was definitely the star. best tofu i’ve ever had in my life because it didn’t taste like tofu lol it tasted like the beer batter breading and very flavorful tarter sauce! also very nice staff :)

I can see why Guy Fieri loved this place! Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. Fast service. And excellent food with reasonable prices and generous portions.

I wandered into this place late in the afternoon after hearing a few locals mention it in passing. The room had that cozy diner feel but a little more lively, like a neighborhood spot where people settle in for longer meals. The tables were close enough that you could hear bits of conversation drifting around, and plates kept coming out of the kitchen looking pretty generous. The mac and cheese ended up being the thing everyone kept talking about at our table. It was creamy but still had a bit of texture to it, not overly heavy but definitely comforting. Right after that came the fried chicken sandwich, which had that crispy outside and juicy inside that makes it feel like a proper diner classic. Someone ordered the meatloaf sandwich and that one surprised me a little. It felt like something from a home kitchen rather than a restaurant, thick slices of meatloaf with gravy and soft bread holding everything together. We also had a plate of cheese curds, which honestly disappeared before anyone could claim the last one. By the time we were wrapping up, the room had filled in more and the place had a warm buzz to it. It felt like one of those restaurants people keep coming back to because it just feels comfortable. Nothing fancy, just good food and a relaxed vibe.

A great greasy spoon with diner fare. I sat at the counter right away for a late breakfast and a Saturday morning. I was greeted quickly and had a coffee in front of me in no time. I asked the waiter his favorite, the meatloaf hash or the pork belly grits, and he recommended the meatloaf hash. It was a very generous portion and looked beautiful. It was hearty and delicious just what I needed ona damp and overcast morning. Overall, it was a great breakfast with rock solid service and that good old Milwaukee charm. You should stop in.
