Located in the Milwaukee Public Market, C. Adam's Bakery makes the best carrot cake I've ever had in my life. The Milwaukee Public Market is a cool little shopping center, full of neat foodie boutique stores, and home to C. Adam's Bakery. Wandering around and checking out the Milwaukee themed shops and memorabilia is fun, but the bakery is really the star of the show. Sitting in display cases are cakes, cookies, and all manner of other baked goods. I can't offer any commentary on their other items, but if they're half as good as the carrot cake, prepare to have your mind blown. Now, before I go much further, I should mention that I'm not much of a sweets guy. I don't sit around and crave candy or chocolate, and brownies have always just been ho-hum to me. Instead, give me a salty bag of chips or something like that any day. Well, all that changed once I ordered a slice of carrot cake from C. Adam's Bakery. C. Adam's Bakery sells their triple decker cakes by the slice, or you can order a whole cake, in various sizes, to take home. The cake I had was incredibly moist, and the flavor was unreal. I'm not sure what all goes into it, but the cake was sweet and soft, and had an excellent texture and mouthfeel. The frosting that's layered between the cake layers, as well as abundantly on top, is creamy and rich. The flavor is undeniably cream cheese, and it pairs perfectly with the sweetness of the cake. To top it off, a plethora of walnuts surrounds the outer edge of your slice, and the walnuts' texture and crunch really add to the most frosted and densest part of the cake. After my first experience with just one slice, it's become a tradition for my wife and I to stop and get a piece anytime we're passing through Wisconsin. Additionally, we called a few days in advance and made the journey to purchase one for our Thanksgiving dinner dessert - and our guests all loved it. I can't recommend the carrot cake at C. Adam's Bakery any higher, except maybe to say, no matter what you're going through, this slice of heaven can make it better.
