Hosting events and serving a famous Friday fish fry in Milwaukee
I had the baked cod and it was very good. Tartar sauce was a little sweet for my liking, and so was the coleslaw. The rye bread was good and so were the garlic mashed potatoes. We got there early, about 4:45 and there were very few people there, so we beat the crowd. Sitting at the bar was pleasant because the bartender talked with us a lot and there were only a couple other people there. The TV had traditional Serbian music playing the whole time.
I enjoyed most of their fish fry. Generous portions of thick, tasty, breaded fish, properly cooked.. The fries were just ok. The piece of rye bread was pretty small, which was disappointing. Also, the sides, especially the cole slaw, to me, and potato salad were small portions. Loved their tartar sauce! I'm not sure why it took so long to get food. I was in the drive through line more than 20 minutes and I was only about 6 cars away from the window. The parking lot was nowhere near full. Maybe they were just shorthanded. If they offered a fish sandwich, I would have gotten that. So the fish was good, and after all, that is what I am there for.
Soggy spongy texture!’it was like rubber honestly. It was luke warm and the heat lamps I’m sure is what’s giving the fish that rubbery texture. Haven’t eaten from here for a while, my coworker use to order for all of us and it was delicious. I was warned that it wasn’t good anymore but took a chance and it is not like it use to be at all!! Next Friday I’ll go to Culver’s!!
Very nice, clean dining hall, friendly and efficient hostess and waitress, and good food. Manager checked on us as well. Jack Daniels Marinated Salmon was good, as was the asparagus with Hollandaise sauce, garlic mashed potatoes and clam chowder. My Dad had the Atlantic Cod - good seasoning on the fish. Nice sized portions. We will be back!
We stopped in to try the fish fry since we had heard a mix of reviews on how it was. Walking in from the door off the parking lot, the dining room was far, we walked past some of the other spaces Serb Hall has to offer, that looked nice, though when we walked past the bathrooms, they stunk. We got there a little early, around 5:15pm, beating some of the crowd and it was already gathering a good amount of diners. We were seated and ordered our drinks, a sprite and old fashioned. The drinks came out relatively quick, but the second round was a little bit slower. The fish was smaller than expected, but good and was filling. Overall, not bad but not my favorite.
