Pettit National Ice Center is an indoor ice center on Milwaukee's west side, built around a 400-meter speedskating oval that circles two hockey rinks. It opened on December 31, 1992, and has hosted national speedskating championships and the Olympic long track speedskating trials. Public skating runs daily from October through March, and the center offers skating instruction, youth and adult figure skating and hockey programs. A 443-meter, three-lane run and walk track circles the oval, making the building a year-round option for runners and walkers when Wisconsin weather turns.
