About

Kewaskum Maple-Oak Woods State Natural Area is a nature preserve in Kewaskum composed of two parcels with southern dry-mesic and mesic forests, including sugar maple, red oak, white ash, and basswood trees. We feature a rich herb layer with species such as large-fruited snakeroot and showy orchis. Our flatter northern tract contains very large red oak, white oak, sugar maple, and black cherry, and both parcels include kettle depressions that hold water seasonally. Common nesting birds like the black-billed cuckoo and wood thrush are present, and we permit activities such as cross-country skiing, wildlife viewing, and outdoor education.

Nice area- a bit too crowded for my taste and not remote. Surrounded by developed plots.
