Great trailhead, very well marked. Would recommend parking here if hiking north. I made the mistake of parking on the parking area south of H. Not a big deal though, nice bridge crossing the Milwaukee river to get to the trailhead. Big fan of the Ice Age Trail, this is another great section.
We parked here for an out and back hike. We did about 5 miles round trip hiking towards the highway 28 trailhead. The trail is wide, well marked, and very easy to follow. The trail is very clean. In early January the ground is frozen but the terrain is not treacherous. There are flurries on the ground. There are no leaves but we did pass through a bit of a pine forest section for a change of pace. There were a lot more people than we expected. Also a fair number of dogs. There was some parking right off the road as well as trailheads on either side of the road for a good amount of parking.
Gravel road leading to a parking lot - great location for an out and back hike. Slight incline to start, but it was downhill on the way back. No restroom or garbage, pack in and pack out.
Super easy to miss if you blink and it can fill up fast on a nice day. Alternative parking exist on oak drive with a short hike to the start of the trail, or across H to take the IAT the other direction. Parking lot is clean and relatively free of debris, just a short walk up from the lot is a pump water well with a good place to hydrate your dog.
Spots for at least 6, maybe 12 on other side. Great IAT section.
