It’s not so much a destination, but a nice place to stop, get out of your car, walk around and stretch your legs. It took them years to accumulate the items used to build the grotto. A cool place to visit and it’s free. We think there might’ve been public bathrooms there but because we got there on a Sunday after 5 o’clock driving home from a national park, the bathrooms were not unlocked and so we had to take our grandkid to a nearby gas station.

Beautiful stop for a road trip. Wish we could have walked into the Marion shrine to see everything, but was still able to see most through the gated door.

I love gawdy religious shrines. This place is A LOT. Very cool, the about of work that went into it. The patriotism masquerading as religion might be a tad on the blasphemous side, but we'll just say this was all built before anybody really starting digging into Christopher Columbus. Anyway, yes, stop. Totally worth it. Off to the side is an old school playground that has all the things that have been vanquished since the 80's, (For good reason), but it warms my heart to see them again.

OMG, I have never experienced such an amazing place. I took pictures but they do not do justice. Amazing eye candy. We travel past this every year to visit our family. This year, we finally stopped in and thought it was just this one small building off the main road to find that behind is a field of more amazement. There is nothing I can say to explain the amazing work that took place in 1924. See pictures attached. A MUST SEE FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!!! Free admission and parking.
