I lived in San Diego for 8 years. I’ve been to Mexico many times. I’ve travelled all across the southwest and visited some of the most culturally diverse metros in America. And I’ve eaten Mexican food in all of them. I’ve tried some of the most revered Mexican food on the planet. I am, what many would call a taco connoisseur, always in search of the perfect taco. And I can say with absolute confidence that today, I just had the best al pastor taco I’ve ever tried, anywhere in the world, hands down. Their other tacos are really good too. And I’ve had their al pastor tacos in the past and have always rated them near the top. But today’s were over the top great. These guys get al pastor. Perfect mix of herbs and spices. Most places go too heavy on the sweet or put tons of pineapple in. These tacos are delightfully seasoned with a perfect balance of sweet and savory and cooked to perfection. I read a few complaints about the ambience or smell in the place. They’re right next door to a nail shop and I think the building shares a ventilation systems so the vapors waft over there. But don’t let it deter you. Grab takeout if you are that sensitive to smell. But get the al pastor, you will not regret it. Also the green creamy sauce is so delicious! Orange sauce too. Yum!
