I have been disappointed in food in koh Kood so the problem at this place exists in many restaurants here. I moved to Thailand from the USA where I was lucky to grow up eating good food. I moved here not to eat western food nor watered down Thai food. Most of the tourists here are not Thai and because of this the food is not truly what Thai tastes like especially in restaurants catering to Thai nationals. If you go through the google reviews you notice very few Thai names. My gf and I notice the prices are 2-3 times what they are in Bangkok. It is an island ans the grocery stores are small and most items have to be brought in so I understand why they are expensive. At every restaurant I had to ask for spicy and flavorful because the restaurants assume I cannot handle the spicy food. My gf is Thai and clearly explains I want traditional Thai Spicy and Flavors. Unfortunately only once or twice in over a week did I receive spicy food. Sad because true Thai spices and flavors are wonderful. Sad because most of you are missing out on quite a great experience. Step out of your comfort zones and forget about burgers and pizza and French fries and club sandwiches. Traveling a lot to Florida and New Orleans I expect that the seafood on an island will be fresh not frozen. Unfortunately many restaurants don’t sell only fresh seafood. You will notice only a few fresh choices and they charge a premium price for barracuda and sea bass. In Pattaya you can buy live fish and shrimp and have it cooked immediately at the fish market. Because we don’t drive motorcycles we are penalized as well. Maybe there are restaurants that have Thai customers and maybe there is a seafood market. Here at Lock the squid may have been fresh but were very small. The papaya salad was not flavorful and used dried not fresh hot peppers, very little peanuts. In Bangkok they put dried shrimps in papaya salad but never had it here. We ordered fish which was the cheapest and largest fish we got in kk. The fish appeared to be frozen, because the center of the fish was served raw suggesting it was not fresh. Unlike most the fish here it was steamed, undercooked and sauce not very flavorful or spicy. Another dissatisfying restaurant. At least the prices were more reasonable.

Delicious food. We also ordered BBQ fish for the next day, as there were 12 of us, and everything was delicious. The owner tolerated our large group well past closing time.

Great service in this quiet restaurant and such a wide ranging menu. The food was made quickly and was really delicious. I tried the fried rice with beef, the chicken sandwich, and the noodle soup with chicken. They were all super delicious. The ladies who work here are so smiley too.

The best restaurant on Koh Kood. The sweet dishes are delicious, and the main courses are traditional Thai — unlike those in more popular tourist spots. If You want to eat good thai meal - this is Your must go place.
