Taphuis is a gastropub in Stellenbosch offering a menu that includes dishes like fried squid, venison steak, lamb chops, and the Taphuis burger. We provide both indoor and outdoor seating, along with a dedicated bar area with a stocked bar. Located within the historic Lanzerac Wine Estate, we also feature an impressive wine list, including the estate's own wines.
The place had a separate vegan menu and we were able to choose. 3 star for the restaurant and food was because of the fact that they gave us vegan mayo which was not vegan after all. It turns out the kitchen used egg & canola oil. That makes me wonder if the items we ate were truly vegan.

Great food, highly recommend the lamb chops - full of flavour and spicy. Good wine selection too. Lovely historic estate - worth the visit.

We visited the Taphuis at Lanzerac for a special occasion dinner and had a great time. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly special. We decided to sit inside, enjoying the more cozier setting, but they do have an outside seating area as well as a dedicated bar area, which boasts a beautifully stocked bar. During our dinner we enjoyed everything we tasted. The food was bursting with flavor and was beautifully presented. A shout out also to their impressive wine list. If you are a family with young kids, they don't have a kids play area available, however just outside the restaurant is a beautiful lawn where the little ones can enjoy themselves. We were really impressed by our visit, and I recommend the Taphuis as a good option for different occasions.

Another great lunch at Taphuis, tried some interesting dishes from the new menu: fried squid, venison steak, apple strudel and the good old Taphuis burger.
The staff is always so friendly and attentive, and the ambiance at the bar is great. The fire place made it nice and warm (although the extractor can get a bit noisy after a long lunch). Next time on the sunny terrace!

We were a party of six for Sunday lunch. We were seated on the left of the Taphuis bar area. The seating and ambiance is old Victorian, plush and very comfortable. The service was fast and efficient, we never sat at any time with an empty glass. The food was very flavoursome and a good portion size. We ordered the Wagu burger, Wagu Babootie and Pork belly. The Pork Belly crackling was air fried and little bit oily and bland. The food was complimented with the Lanzerac Cab and Pinotage, both were great. Will definitely visit again.
