As a tourist guide visiting Kanonkop with Swedish guests, it's consistently one of the most appreciated wine estates on our itinerary. The tasting experience is professional but relaxed, and the staff do an excellent job of sharing the estate's history and winemaking philosophy in an approachable way. My guests are often particularly interested in Kanonkop's Pinotage, and it's rewarding to see them discover why the estate has earned such an international reputation. The tastings are unhurried, allowing time for questions and discussion, which Swedish visitors tend to appreciate. Combined with the quality of the wines and the authentic Stellenbosch atmosphere, Kanonkop remains a favourite stop on my wine tours. 🍷

We recently visited Kanonkop during a trip through Stellenbosch and what was meant to be a quick 40-minute stop turned into an hour and a half - which says a lot in itself. The tasting was fantastic and Ethan at the cellar door was exceptional. My partner has a WSET Level 3 and was genuinely impressed by Ethan’s wine knowledge, passion and confidence, especially given his young age. He spoke so well about both the wines and the history of the vineyard and made the entire experience feel engaging rather than scripted. Kanonkop seems to have such a strong sense of family pride behind it and you can really feel that throughout the experience. It also genuinely sounded like the owners invest in and support the growth of their staff, which was lovely to hear. We ended up having to call our hotel to make sure they could store extra purchases for us because we couldn’t leave without taking more wine home. Would absolutely love to return and spend more time exploring the winery properly next visit.

You have to visit Kanonkop if you’re in Stellenbosch. The winery has so much history and the whole experience was amazing. We were welcomed by Ethan and Renitha, who were both so kind, warm, and knowledgeable. They made our visit feel really special and memorable. You can tell they genuinely care about the guests and the winery. Highly recommend visiting.
