Wonderful place with great food and wine. I tried the house red wine and it is very good. I also eat short ribs with saffron risotto, which was delicious, the meet was very tender and the risotto was in the perfect point. The price is good, not as high as I expected when I entered the place.

Went for dinner here on our first night in Stellenbosch on a recommendation. We were not disappointed at all. We went for the sharing plates and ordered 4 different dishes plus a side salad and this was more than enough for two of us. Each dish was well executed and very tasty, and paired by our waiter to an appropriate wine. Our waiter also made a very good flat white for me at the end as well! Highly recommended.

De Warenmarkt - A solid breakfast with a few minor hiccups Vibe: 3/5 It’s a wonderfully quiet breakfast spot with very comfortable seating options both inside and out. The service was a bit of a mixed bag, however; our waiter seemed quite new and a little confused, which slowed things down a bit. Food and Drinks: 4/5 There was a slight frustration when the waiter came back well after we ordered to tell us an item was out of stock. That said, the food itself completely redeemed the morning! The flavour of both the Eggs Benedict dishes was absolutely amazing, and everything was made with incredibly fresh ingredients. I would highly recommend the food, but definitely suggest going earlier in the day before they run out of items. Value: 5/5 Everything felt completely worth the price. There were no hidden costs, the portions were satisfying, and they serve a genuinely great cup of coffee. Experience: 4/5 Because we went early, there was absolutely no wait time to get a table. Just keep in mind that parking is a problem (as it is in the whole of Stellenbosch!), so factor that into your trip. Overall, it’s a very welcoming and family-friendly spot. Visited on 28 February 2026 📍Location: De Warenmarkt, Stellenbosch ✨Beautifully quiet and comfortable morning atmosphere 🍳☕️Incredibly flavourful, fresh Eggs Benedict and great coffee 🚗 Go early to beat the crowds and find parking!

Had a lovely visit to De Warenmarkt this evening, the experience was pleasant and was a very nice mood. It was a Friday evening so the restaurant was fully booked, luckily we made a reservation and it was well worth it. We started off with some delicious Namibian oysters, fresh but a bit on the smaller to medium size. The mains we opted for a delicious fillet mignon, perfect cooked medium rare with a delicious side of crispy sweet potato fries, very nice steak with an excellent char. Mood and ambiance was great, maybe a bit stuffy on the inside and a bit of reverberation perhaps due to the design but overall a fantastic experience and very well spot in the heart of Stellies. Can’t wait to be back for another visit to try out the rest of their menu items.
