Visited on a cold day and was instantly warmed up by the hearty beef soup - one of the best soups I have had the pleasure to taste. Ingredients of the highest quality, lovely textures and deep flavours very neatly complemented by the sourdough toast. A winner for a winter-time lunch! The coffee was also tremendously rich and smooth.
I come here regularly. The setting is the absolute best. The food is good quality and tasty. The service is consistently poor even when not very busy. Never come here for a quick lunch, and be prepared to be frustrated.
Beautiful setting, but the service approach needs work. I visited for breakfast and ordered a soft-cooked omelette. What arrived was thin and overcooked - not what I’d asked for. When I mentioned this, the chef came out to explain that’s their preparation style and they wouldn’t remake it softer. The omelette was returned to me cold, so I just ate the filling. I understand not every kitchen can accommodate special requests, but a simple “I’m sorry but we’re not able to prepare it that way - can we offer you something else instead?” would have made all the difference. Alternatively, when the waiter brought the request to the kitchen, they could have let us know before making it. The dismissive attitude/approach left a sour taste. I’m a chef, so well aware of what can and cannot be done. The location is lovely, but hospitality is about more than just the setting. I note other reviews mention similar encounters. Hoping they can improve their customer service approach.
Always a pleasure visiting to drink their coffee and buy their ground beans. Super smooth delicious coffee and the yummiest cakes to go with! Their savoury food is also very high quality. Staff and very nice and friendly. It’s gorgeous to sit outside below the shade of the trees.
Lourensford is already so beautiful and eating at this restaurant was so nice - the burgers were so delicious and absolutely loved the vibe and scenery of the place. Would definitely recommend.
