If you’re looking for a true “home away from home,” Somerset View is exactly that. The cost per night—including breakfast and a light dinner—is very reasonable and fits comfortably within most budgets. Esmi and her husband Carl are incredibly accommodating and genuinely go above and beyond for their guests. Whatever you need, they will do their best to make it happen—just let them know. They even arranged airport pickup and drop-off for me, as well as transport to and from a wedding I attended in South Africa. Although standard hotel check-in is at 3pm, my flight arrived at 6am. Carl was right on time at the airport, brought me to the guest house, offered me breakfast, and allowed me early access to my room without any hassle. The cleanliness of the place really stood out. The environment is spotless, and every time I walked into the living or dining area, it felt so pristine that I instinctively wanted to take my shoes off. My room, along with the entire property—inside and out—was maintained to a very high standard daily. One of the most memorable moments was sharing a quiet dinner with Esmi and Carl, where they even took the time to sit and pray with me. That level of warmth and care is something you don’t often find. I will definitely be staying here again on my next trip to South Africa.
