Great food, bit over priced, but the view is breath taking. Service was friendly and tentive. Very nice that we received seasonal fruit bag and my wife a bouquet of proteas just because. Pleasant surprise. Great day and lovely season gardens to stroll through.

A truly unforgettable lunch! We visited Babel today to celebrate my husband’s birthday, and what unfolded over the course of a long, languid lunch was nothing short of extraordinary. The food? Outstanding doesn’t quite cover it. Every dish was a testament to what Babel does so beautifully — fresh, thoughtful, and deeply considered. But if I’m being honest, it was the people who truly elevated this experience into something we’ll be talking about for years. Muranda — a bubbly, infectious force of nature — and our waiter Limile brought a warmth and energy to our table that felt genuinely personal. Their attention to detail was impeccable, their hospitality sincere, and their care for us as guests was the kind you rarely encounter, even at the finest establishments. This wasn’t just good service. It was world-class, heartfelt hospitality that made a special occasion feel truly celebrated. Set among the breathtaking beauty of the Babylonstoren estate on a perfect day, we were utterly, completely spoilt. If you’re looking for a lunch experience that nourishes both the body and the soul — go. And when you do, be sure you’re in no rush, because once you’re there, you won’t want to leave. We’ll be back again and again. Muranda and Limile, thank you — you made our day.

Incredible setting, beautiful restaurant - even the napkins and cutlery were of high quality. Our waitress was lovely and very knowledgable about the wine and menu. Loved th bread and butter with the botanical oils. The dinner was ok - was a bit disappointed with my fish main as the skin was burnt and affected the taste of the whole piece. I also wasn’t really sure what fish it was as the waitress said it was salmon but I got a white fish. Nice sides which weren’t over faffy. The sauce was very good. The starters tasty and simple and the desserts again v simple and nice, using the gardens ingredients to showcase the dish. Our food experience has been amazing so far in South Africa so the competition is high but the lovely setting, quality ingredients and great staff made up for the main course not quite being up to our expectations. A nice experience if you a go a bit early for a wander around the garden.

Highly recommended. Delicious food prepared with local ingredients, very friendly waiters and nice atmosphere. The staff had a great attention to detail, and when my partner mentioned that she felt sick that day (for the avoidance of doubt, not because of the food served at Babel), they offered her a herbal tea. If you are visiting Babylonstoren, you should definitely try Babel.

Absolutely exceptional. The food was fantastic, the service friendly, fast and accommodating, the atmosphere is nice. They have a set menu (2 or 3 course), with multiple options for each course. Each dish was flavorful, not overpowering, and offered multiple textures. Presentation was very appealing. We came for lunch, were offered to sit indoors or outdoors, and chose outdoors. They had little mist fountains to keep the temperature down. There was plenty of space for our stroller. Reservation in peak season (even for lunch) 100% necessary! Expect to pay $$$
