River cruises and wine tasting on the Breede River

About

Viljoensdrift is a winery in Robertson offering river cruises on the flat-bottomed boat Uncle Ben 2 along the Breede River. Our cellar door, opened in 1998, features wine tasting and a deli where guests can build their own picnic baskets with cheeses, cold meats, and fresh bread. We also have a restaurant serving fresh dishes, including seafood, pizzas, burgers, and kids meals.

Fun little outing under an hour. Prebook online. Wine tasting and pic out your snacks from their deli. Not a lot of vegetarian options other than salad and cheeses.

We recently hosted a farewell retirement function for two of our colleagues at Viljoensdrift, and it was an unforgettable experience. The venue was perfect, the staff were exceptional, and their warmth and professionalism made the day truly special. The boat ride along the river was absolutely amazing, with breathtaking views that added to the magic of the occasion. We are deeply grateful to the Viljoensdrift team for helping us create such a memorable celebration, and we will surely be returning individually to enjoy the beauty and hospitality again. Highly recommended!

Love this place so much!! Friendly staff and the wine is devine!! A bit hot in the summer with no fans, but there is proper shade to sit under. We did the river cruise as well, such a blast 👌🏻🥂

Viljoensdrift wine farm is one of the best little stops outside Robertson, on the R317 which has several wine farms so competition is tough. This establishment stands out because they bring guests close to the Breerivier in a way that feels totally natural and organic. Riaan was an excellent server and does a great job of being both attentive and respectful of guests' privacy. It's a remarkable display of skill and people management that he displays in the way he does his job. The food was top class and attractively priced. A burger sells for R100 (about $5.70) and it was well made and tasty. The wine tasting is only R50 (about $3) and they are more than willing to compromise with customers. But then, there's the joker trick: They have a river boat cruise than lasts for around an hour for only R120 (about $7) and it's an entertaining and fun experience. The boat is covered so you are protected from the harsh sun - especially in summer when temperatures can easily 30°C (86°F). There are neat and clean bathrooms and ample parking - though the best parking spaces are under the trees so your car doesn't get too hot.
