We stayed at the Farmstead with our children of 3 and 1 for a full week in low season. We were really enthousiastic about the Farmstead. + great views, central location, things to do for the children (swimming pool, trampoline, slide, swing) - Like other reviews describe, you can hear your neighbors.
A very cute farmhouse with beautiful distant mountains views across farm fields with donkeys and a cows. Conveniently located between Stellenbosch snd Franschoek, great for exploring the region by car. We loved the quaint outdoor bath and shower en suite, with the convenience of an indoor bathroom too. The kitchen was well equipped and helpful staff on hand for inquiries/laundry etc. The only improvement would be more comfy sitting room furniture for cooler nights that prohibit outdoor dining. To curl up in a comfy sofa for a great chat (no TV available) would make this a 5 star experience.
I am very disappointed with this first experience, as my watch was stolen from the bedside table in my bedroom. Please be very careful.
I've stayed at The Farmstead before and had a lovely experience, but my most recent stay, and specifically interactions with Warren, were horrendous!!!! When asking the simplest of questions you receive the most flippant, rude and awful responses, which do not even answer your questions. I've honestly never received such utterly disrespectful and terrible customer service from an accommodation manager before in my life. I simply wanted a receipt and breakdown of costs, but clearly they are not interested in helping with any client requests. The gate and getting to the accommodation was a constant issue (as I see many other reviewers have noted). When we couldn't cross the river we sat for ages at the other gate, hoping for it to open, but eventually just braved the river as we had to get to our trail run. We had the same issue each time we needed to leave or come back. I used to recommend The Farmstead to family and friends, and will never do so again in my life.
This is the perfect blend of farm style living simple clean comfortable quiet. Magnificent surrounding views of fields and mountains. Cows, chocolate sultan bantam chickens, runner ducks, baby lambs donkeys etc. A lovely team of humans doing their very best to leave as little negative impact on their environment as possible. Great organic bamboo beds, stunning fynbos handmade toiletries by Fijn, off grid indigenous plants and garden, a Yoga and Breathwork and ice submersion studio and a catering kitchen for bespoke special family events. Fairly priced, and we were gifted local food welcome basket on arrival and incredible mountain spring water. There’s more but try it you won’t be sorry. With indoor fireplaces and cute outdoor baths you can relax and put your feet up whilst gazing at the stars even in the winter.
