About
Sterrekopje Farm is a hotel in Franschhoek. We offer a "Farm Rhythms" program with options like breathwork and massage. Guests can also enjoy our bath house treatments, classes from hiking to cooking, and special meal events. Our team provides an art studio, a pool, and gardens for guests to explore. We have private access to a mountain and hiking trails.
Our kitchen prepares excellent vegetarian cooking, including breakfast and baked goods. We also serve drinks. Some of our rooms feature luxurious farmhouse decor, while others are ultra bare.
Sterrekopje Farm was unlike anywhere either of us had ever stayed. The pace, the beauty, the sense of calm - it felt like genuinely stepping off the world for two days. When we arrived, they gave us a delightful drink and then a foot massage! The "Farm Rhythms" programme was so thoughtfully conceived: I had breathwork as the ritual and then the best massage of my life. Franschhoek itself is one of the most beautiful places in the world - we will 10000% be going back and wish we had had even longer to get into the "journey" more! Oh and the food was to DIE for. Thank you SO MUCH to the Sterrekopje team for the best couple of days - we can't wait to come back.

The farm is absolutely gorgeous! Everything is beautiful and beautifully thought out. I visited for a few days in February 2024. It did cost and arm and a leg. There is nothing to do but walk the grounds. I was alone so I was most time left to face the wall while eating so as not to disturb couples eating together! The owners were not on the ground so the service was iffy. Everything was a no but with a beautiful smile. Chane is a pro at being inefficient. I’m baffled anyone would hire that woman. It’s unbelievable anyone would trust her to get anything done let alone employ her. Management is quick to take your money and lots of it but if you write to ask anything you’re left in the dark. It’s a rather very annoying place with very slow people running it. If this place was better ran it would be better. But it’s not.

tldr; Very mixed experience. Super glad I came, but unlikely to return and will recommend with caution.
Pros
- 'Abundant Sanctuaries' room category has beautiful decor
- The waiters and kitchen staff are incredibly kind, friendly, and personable
- Excellent vegetarian cooking, breakfast, baked goods, and drinks
- Loved the concept of an art studio
- Gorgeous pool, garden, and landscaping -- loved the round bushes and "chakra" (why this silly name?!) garden
- Love that they have private access to a mountain and hiking trails
Cons
- Management are incapable (senior manager is unfriendly; other 2 managers don't follow up on requests that they offer and don't even know room categories)
- Customer service before/after the stay is atrocious -- they will just ghost you or take days to reply
- WAY TOO OVERPRICED!!!!!!! NOT GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY!!!
- This is not a wellness place. The only wellness aspect is the non-optional daily massage. But there is no sauna, no steam room, no option for private dining, no daily yoga/movement/meditation. Also, the "hammam" is misleading (it is a scrub).
- Meat during meals is always dry
- They send you a kind email before checkin asking for bedsheet and milk preference, but will not actually apply that info (wrong bedsheets, constantly asked what kind of milk)
- Watch out that room decor is very very inconsistent in different rooms! Some rooms have gorgeous luxurious farmhouse decor, while others can be very kitschy or ultra bare.

This is my very first Google review, one that I am so happy to dedicate to Sterrekopje Farm. I recently spent a weekend off at the farm and, though it was certainly an investment, would happily return. From the moment I booked, the team at Sterrekopje took my experience into their hands, from asking about the treatments I would like during my stay, to ensuring I had my bedsheet and milk preference waiting for me in my room upon arrival. One of my favorite parts about Sterrekopje is that my experience was planned for me from start to finish. Upon arrival, I was given a schedule of my bath house treatments (included with the room price along with all food and drink!), classes to join (from hiking to cooking), and special meal events. As a busy young professional, planning my own itinerary felt intimidating, and it was a relief to have my schedule handed to me. The food was, needless to say, beyond incredible. From freshly baked focaccia, sourdough, and seeded bread, to beautifully dressed seasonal vegetables, to smoky short rib and housemade ricotta, everything I ate felt nourishing and highlighted the beauty of whole foods that come from the earth. The rooms and common spaces all felt intentionally designed and were wonderfully cozy. There were poolside chairs to lounge at, warm reading rooms with glowing fireplaces, and scenic gardens to stroll in. The bath house rituals were rejuvenating and performed with warmth and care in an intricately designed, rustic bath house space filled with dried herbs and soulful tea concoctions. I was assigned one bath house therapist for all my treatments, allowing for relationship building and continuity of care. I would like to end my review by giving a special thank you to my host, Silent. When I left the farm, I left my journal in my room on accident. When the team found it, Silent messaged me and asked how he could get it back to me. It was too late for me to turn back on my way to the airport to catch my flight. As I live in South Africa, I figured the easiest way to get it to me would be through courier service, so I let Silent know my address and expected to receive it in a few days' time. Silent then called me, and let me know that he did not want me to go several days without my journal, and told me he was on his way himself to the airport, making the hour long drive in order to get me the journal before I boarded my flight. It was a tightly scheduled affair, and left me in awe of how the staff was willing to go above and beyond for guests (I had experienced this throughout my time at the farm as well, as staff was always there to ensure my needs were met and remembered my name, habits, and food preferences during my stay.). This level of service was absolutely insane, something I've never experienced before! I am so grateful to Silent and the rest of the team at Sterrekopje for a wonderful weekend, and hope to be back on the farm someday.

An incredible place. Different to other places I’ve stayed and much more of a retreat than a hotel. Very peaceful, beautiful farm to table food, and incredible spa treatments & rituals. It is the best place I’ve ever been and I’ve been twice 😊. If you like yoga or meditation retreats or think you’d like to try one and you are open minded to go on a journey, then this is the ultimate 🙏.
