The scenery is lovely but there is a bit of work to be done on the trails- the signs to the various trails are almost illegible and many of the wooden logs originally installed as steps have been burned in forest fires and erosion has taken place where they were so there are metal spikes sticking up that used to hold the logs but are now tripping hazards. We met a few foreign tourists so I feel it would be worth tizzying the trails up to match the beauty of the Franschhoek mountains!

This place was stunning. I do recommend checking weather to work out how chilly it will be and whether the cloud cover with come in. Theres easier short routes but most are medium to hard. Also I went post fire so some paths were closed. It was not crowded at all and had lovely views but if youre ubering know it is very hard to call an uber back down. I was warned you need to order it about an hour in advance.

We drove up today and hikes. It was unclear if the pass would be open or the park, but both were. We were the only hikers. We did the 7km Uitkyk trail. The fires have completely obliterated the landscape there and made it seem very surreal. But it was still very beautiful and we know the vegetation will regenerate quickly. Despite the fires, the trail has (remarkably) remained in tact and the manage steps preserved in place. I highly hiking here.

Some pretty amazing views of Franschoek and the mountains from this spot. Take the fabulous Franschoek Pass at least part of it to get here. There are hiking trails, it was very windy when I showed up solo decided not to hike on my own but I’m sure they are great if you like a good hike.

Such an amazing hike! I started from the bottom near Groendal and climbed up. It took me 2 full hours to get to the top, but it was totally worth the effort. The big rocks and caves along the way are really cool great for taking photos. When you get to the top, the view looking down at Groendal and the valley is just beautiful, especially with the mist. You really feel like you are on top of the world. I definitely recommend this if you like nature. Just remember to wear good shoes and bring enough water.
