We turned up without booking and received a warm welcome. Price was cheaper than booking online. Lovely smaller wine farm, feels an escape from the city. Wines were smooth and went down well. Favourite was a 16 year old Cabernet Franc. Thoroughly recommend a visit.

This is a much more personal and niche experience than most of the neighbouring wineries. I came 10 min before closing but the lovely lady was happy to give me tasting anyways. Cabernet franc is a signature variety here, with Sebastiaan - 2009 vintage offered in the tasting - being my favorite sample/blend. Highly recommended for fans of smaller wine producers (if i am not mistaken 20-30k bottles yearly)

Had a really nice time there. It was a very personalized experience and we were treated so well. Would definitely visit again when we came back to Cape Town.

If you’re looking for an authentic, boutique Constantia wine experience without the crowds, High Constantia is a true hidden gem. Tucked away in the Constantia Valley just minutes from Cape Town, it offers a rare balance of world-class wines and a relaxed, intimate setting. What makes this estate special is the genuine, hands-on feel. The tasting room is small and personal, which makes you feel part of the winemaking journey rather than just another tourist. It’s refreshing to visit a cellar where the focus is clearly on the wine, not the hype. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming and unpretentious, with tastings often hosted by passionate, knowledgeable staff who truly care about the craft. The estate is known for its small-batch, artisanal production and attention to quality, producing limited quantities of premium wines. The wines themselves are exceptional. The Méthode Cap Classique (South Africa’s answer to Champagne) is next level!! Refined, elegant and easily comparable to some of the best sparkling wines internationally. The Cabernet Franc is another standout, complex, structured and beautifully expressive of Constantia’s cool-climate terroir. It’s rare to find such depth and maturity in this varietal, especially with the opportunity to taste older vintages, which makes the experience even more special. With various vintages available for sale, sometimes if you lucky there might even be a bottle open for tasting. One of the highlights is the peaceful balcony and garden area overlooking the dam and surrounding greenery. It’s incredibly tranquil and ideal for a quiet, slow tasting. You truly feel transported into the countryside, despite being just a short drive from the city. The setting provides the perfect escape from Cape Town’s pace, while still being convenient and accessible. High Constantia also offers excellent value compared to many larger, more commercial estates in the region. The tasting is well priced, and the quality of the wines easily justifies the visit. For locals and visitors alike, it’s the kind of place you want to return to again and again. Point in case on a Saturday morning, following my “long ride”, a casual stop in for a glass of bubbly is mandatory. If you appreciate boutique wineries, exceptional MCC, and a genuine wine experience without the crowds, High Constantia should be at the top of your Constantia wine route list! Ciao ~ SB 🍾

Great cozy place for a nice day-date or group outing! The workers are very friendly, the dogs are lovely and love to play and the wine is worth every second! My only recommendation is the food availability, so don’t forget to eat beforehand or bring your own snacks. (And don’t forget to make a booking for groups!)
