Blend and bottle our own wine at a winery with a deli and café
Excelsior Wine Estate is a family-run farm just outside Ashton in the Robertson Wine Valley, farmed by the De Wet family since the 1850s. The estate is known for approachable, well-priced reds, especially Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, alongside crisp Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. Visitors can taste in the relaxed tasting room overlooking the vineyards and dam, try their hand at blending their own wine, and stop for a light lunch on the deck. It's an easy stop on Route 62 and a laid-back way to sample the valley's character.

Wine tasting plus blend and label your own bottle. What a lovely keepsake. The staff were very informative and had a lovely chat with us whilst tasting and blending our wine.
A wonderful experience. Jacob the guide was excellent and knowledgeable. We visited several wineries as well as a lavender/ olive farm and a magnificent succulent/cacti nursery. The hospitality at the excelsior manor was fabulous. Kirstin and her staff were great hosts and the food was fabulous. Highly recommended
My first wine blending experience, so much fun! Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Afterwards we went to the restaurant for lunch, oh my word! Compliments to the chef and owner, absolutely great food, and very affordable. The setting is gorgeous with the building built over the dam. Do yourself a favour and visit them.
Best ever experience - from the deli, the tasting, blending experience, guesthouse, pool, dinner - what a TREAT. Amazing staff all round but a special shoutout to James (and of course, Norah - our favourite chardonnay). Looking forward to seeing you again in April.
