About

Nga Waka Vineyard is a winery in Martinborough. Our team has been producing wine in the region for over three decades, focusing on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from our sustainably managed vineyards around the village. We offer a selection of wines including Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Chenin Blanc, and Gamay. Our menu also features wood-fired pizzas, polenta chips, and olives, available during our operating hours. Our vineyards were established in 1988, and we remain family-owned, with winemakers and vineyard managers bringing over 50 years of combined experience to our operations.

Amazing lunch time pizzas and a glass of chardonnay! Party of four, we shared three pizzas and some olives and polenta chips. Full marks!

We stopped in at Nga Waka at the recommendation of Jess from Noble Rot in Wellington - both for the wonderful wine and the pizza. We were greeted warmly by Nick and the team, who took us through a fantastic wine tasting (absolutely no misses on the wine list at all!) and really delicious pizzas. No notes, wonderful way to spend an afternoon, can’t wait to come back for another visit. Thanks for the excellent tasting and the chat, Nick! See you guys next time 🥂

I was very impressed with the opportunity to visit this winery. The staff were warm and welcoming, and carefully explained the winemaking process. I could feel the love and passion that goes into the vineyards. The atmosphere at the winery was relaxed yet inspiring, and I learned not only about the wine, but also about the dedication and vision it takes to run such an operation. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to interview the manager and learn more about the management of the agriculture. Thank you so much for your time, kindness, and for sharing your story with me. I hope more people will experience the unique charm of Nga Waka.
