About

Margrain Vineyard Villas is a hotel in Martinborough offering accommodation within a working vineyard. We are a second-generation family owned and operated business, established in 1992. Our villas provide unique accommodation set amidst our vineyard, each with its own private balcony. Guests can enjoy complimentary wine or gin tasting at our Cellar Door. We offer a package that includes two nights in an Ensuite Studio Villa, a Vineyard Platter, a bottle of Margrain wine on arrival, and in-room continental breakfasts. Our Cellar Door is open seven days, and our Kitchen is open Wednesday to Sunday, serving platters, pizzas, and burgers overlooking the vines. We also provide conference facilities for small, informal gatherings.

Clean and tidy room but dated. Bathroom has no extractor so becomes a slip n slide after a shower. Our room had a balcony but no view - it was all bushes/trees so that was disappointing. Not enough space for car parking - only small cars can fit in the park we had so had to park in the driveway instead (where it is wide). Not ideal when you want to keep an eye on your vehicle. And the continental breakfast is risible and should not be advertised as such or as a good bonus - 4 slices of bread, some packaged fruit and some jams is not really great. Best to not provide it and tell people who stay they have to get their own brekkie sorted. Coffee was not nice either. Thoroughly disappointed with this. Receptionist was lovely on arrival though!

My husband and I stayed here for a night for his birthday. The staff at reception was friendly and welcome and explained the amenities well. She had advised there was also a free wine or gin tasting at Margrain Vineyard, which my husband I had done and it was lovely. The room itself was beautiful and the view was amazing. The package I chose included complimentary wine (you could choose pinot noir, rosé or pinot gris) and a grazing platter. Highly recommend choosing this package, as the platter was a great snack before dinner and later in the night. Overall it was an amazing experience and I hope to come back for another visit soon.

Our second time to Margrain. The room was very spacious and clean. Just could do with a bit of an upgrade re furnishings. Unsure if they’ve recently put their prices up because didn’t reflect good value like it did last time. Lovely that they accommodated our dietary requirements. Gorgeous wine.

Great stay with seamless communication and convenient, comfortable parking. The only drawback was the hot water running out after 10–12 minutes—possibly due to local supply or hot water tank capacity. Book room and wine tasting combo deal for superb wine tasting experience.

Comfortable and clean accommodation in a lovely vineyard location. Many of the other wineries within walking distance or all within an easy bike ride. We stayed in one of the Gatehouse rooms and a complementary wine tasting was included in the adjacent cellar door. Kate was very friendly and knowledgeable. Breakfast was provided in your room consisting of cereals milk and fruit and bread for toast with preserves. There was also a very good cafe for lunches. The town is a short drive away, walkable in 20 minutes for other food and drink options. The only minor issue is that the Gatehouse rooms are back to back and you can hear your fellow guests every move! Otherwise a very enjoyable stay.
