Excellent wee motel! Rooms were a great size and had everything you needed, the toiletries even included a shaving kit which was very thoughtful! Dog friendly and there was even a little dog treat left in our room :) Very clean too! Definitely recommended!

Good location. Convenient little places. It even has a pool! That's cool. Service is very friendly.

Huge thanks to Barry at Matador Motel for looking after our whānau. We needed a room urgently, and with four adults travelling, including our son who has high needs, comfort and the right setup were really important to us. Barry sorted a family room for us straight away and made us feel welcome from the start. The room was tidy, warm, comfortable, and worked well for our family, which made travelling much easier. We really appreciated the support and kindness shown to us and would definitely stay again.

Great place for a two night stopover. Though our unit was very close to the highway, it was very quiet, we didn't hear any traffic noise. Just a few minutes walk to the shops. Friendly chatty owners. Good value at the price point.

We had the pleasure of staying at The Matador for 2 nights. The owners are a delight, super friendly, helpful and very accommodating for our last minute booking. Room was comfortable and clean, everything we needed. The heated salt water pool was a perfect temp 29c. Highly recommend staying here while visiting Carterton, close and convenient to the town centre. We’re already planning our next trip back in a couple of months time :)
