Just as plain as I can say it, this place is fantastic. Clearly the team in the kitchen (and if you watch them cooking, there is a team in there) knows exactly what they are doing. The menu is extremely well thought out and the decor and facilities are very low stress for grown ups. Ok, so why so good? - I ordered a chicken sandwich. Something simple and fast. It's almost always junk from everywhere else. NOT AT WEST EGG. It had a very fresh and excellent bun. Very high quality chicken cutlets cooked perfected (grilled). With a very fresh tomato (I usually don't like tomato's on chicken sandwiches but I did on this one) and lettuce. Outstanding mayonnaise (yes, this does also make a difference). Net outcome - one of the best chicken sandwiches I've had in 60 years, period. Especially great because it was not a fast food sandwich as well. - The staff at the front desk were kind and helpful. Even with a full restaurant, their patience with me made a huge difference (and yes, I bought more stuff). - I tried a few of the deserts (I brought them home). Excellent quality. - Decor and general "vibe" - again, this seemed like a "farm to table" type of place however I did really like how it felt like it was designed by grown ups for grown ups. Not unfriendly for kids (they have coloring kits prominently right up front) but really cut for adults (the restaurant). The motif is very much classic "farm American" and is a place most people will feel very comfortable in. I really liked that there wasn't loud music blaring and that grown ups were having conversations throughout the restaurant without being bludgeoned by licensed music or Spotify. I will be back to try more stuff. Just all of the options for Hollandaise and different kinds of Corned Beef hash breakfasts looks fantastic. Bottom line, if you can go, go. It may take a few minutes to drive to West Egg from 84 but you will be rewarded with a fantastic and unique restaurant way above and beyond your normal breakfast or lunch place.
