The lack of professionalism and expertise was stunning. I worried that we had been just given a sales pitch to get our child in the door, and in retrospect, that's clear that's all they could offer us. They showed no capacity to understand reactive attachment disorder and instead did the thing that we have seen all too often from inexperienced therapists: a lot of pussyfooting around and making endless excuses for the child's bad behaviors, while assuming the parents were really to blame and treating us as adversaries instead of partners. They refused to believe anything they didn't directly observe themselves even though the child was not at home, in a classroom, unsupervised, or asked much of anything, so of course they weren't going to see how he would show up in other contexts, but even when we shared evidence of a series of poor choices he made right under their noses, they still pretended as though it were nothing. They were entirely incapable of holding him accountable or providing proper supervision to keep him from feeding his technology addiction, and they minimized everything he did, from breaking their rules to harassing teenage girls. They showed their ignorance when they allowed their own hero complexes to get the better of them, genuinely believing that because he seemed charming and cooperative, it was because they were doing such a good job (or that he had no issues in the first place), when, in fact, that's a basic, textbook symptom of RAD -- and, incidentally, of sociopaths, who would take them right in and practice deceiving them as though they were the greenest therapists in suburbia. When they started actively interfering in family connectedness, we pushed back hard, and rightfully so: it's the worst thing to do to a child with RAD and is more likely to exacerbate the problem than anything else. They clearly had no real concern for him, despite their feigned care, since they took him off most of his meds, promising a new neuropsychology evaluation, but they couldn't be bothered to get that done even though he'd been there a month. They were disorganized from the start, and we had to keep pushing for them to even follow through on their most basic promises. When we came for a visit, they decided, just hours beforehand, to kick him out and send him home instead, a day before the scheduled neuropsych eval, probably because they didn't want to have to acknowledge his case as a total and utter failure on their parts. They provided no transition planning at all. They provided our kid nothing more than an expensive vacation. He learned nothing beneficial at all. Don't waste your effort or hope or your child's time at this place.

I am sure that every parent struggles with the decision on where to go for help for their teenager. Without question, after much agonizing and research, I can say that Turnbridge Woodbury far exceeded my expectations. Staff was caring, efficient, communicative and genuinely solution focused. Ideally we would’ve liked insurance to allow a longer stay which is saying something as I was concerned initially that no decision was right and ended with wishing the stay could be longer.

The professionals, staff, and administrators at Turnbridge couldn't have been more on point in all aspects of care. The medical and mental health professionals on our team exceeded my expectations. Therapy was individually tailored to my child's needs by a coordinated team of smart and sophisticated providers (thank you MK and MC!) Group skills classes sounded meaningful. My child left with an arsenal of coping skills. Residential treatment inherently signifies a difficult situation, but Turnbridge was a game changer for us. For what its worth, admissions, academics, billing and discharge departments were also easy to reach, kind and efficient.

Turnbridge was a life changing experience for me. I’m so grateful that i had the opportunity to go there. They are a great facility because of how much they care for their clients. They have amazing therapist and staff that help you face things you never imagined you had to do. I worked on years of my trauma there and had support step by step. I will never forget the love that they had for me and how much they cared and respected me. One thing i loved the most about Turnbridge is that they will never judge you. Thank you to all the staff and the nursing department, especially my therapist. You guys are apart of the reason why i am where i am right now in my life. Send your children here it’s amazing.

Our experience at Turnbridge Woodbury was great. My daughter has been in and out of treatment at different places and I have to say that this time was the best. I felt that my daughter was safe and incredibly taken care of there during her stay. Everyone there was very responsive whenever we had questions or concerns. They were able to get me the information or at least guide me in the proper direction to get the answers I needed. Chelsea and Justin were my main contacts, We spoke weekly about my daughter's progress and how we all could best serve her while she was there. Melissa was her therapist and was able to break through a lot of barriers that no one else did. She was able to have extremely productive family sessions and did check ins when she was able between clients with my daughter throughout her stay. Tammy was super informative about my daughter's progress with the educational part of her stay. Everyone there is so supportive and helpful through these extremely hard times. No one wants to drop their child off at a facility for a few months while they are going through a hard time. It's difficult for everyone involved and the staff at Turnbridge Woodbury completely understands and extremely compassionate and supportive. I felt that my daughter was completely listened to (finally) and was better leaving than when she arrived. Thanks to everyone that I didn't mention as well. You all played an important role in my daughter's success!!!
