First Congregational Church-Woodbury CT is a place of worship in Woodbury. We trace our roots to 1659 as the First Ecclesiastical Society of Woodbury, formally organized as a church in 1670, and we meet in our third meeting house completed in 1818. We hold worship services every Sunday at 10 AM, featuring expository sermons based on scripture lessons, and we sing psalms and hymns. Communion is offered every Sunday. Our pastor, The Rev. Jake Dell, is a former Episcopal priest with degrees from Yale College and Nashotah House Theological Seminary. We believe in the historic Christian faith, the Bible as the authoritative Word of God, and the Trinity.

This is a truly lovely and welcoming church. Rev. Jake Dell is an outstanding preacher who faithfully and powerfully expounds the Scriptures week after week. Here your soul is lovingly cared for in the rich tradition of classical, historic Protestantism—specifically in the warm, Scripture-saturated spirit of the Puritans. As one of the oldest congregations in America (founded in the 1600s), this church carries a profound sense of living history. When you worship here, you become part of a continuous legacy of Christians who have been faithfully glorifying the Lord Jesus Christ for over 350 years—long before you arrived and long after you’re gone. It’s a beautiful and humbling thing to experience. Highly recommended!

I’ve never attended this church, but celebrate with you the fact that you have reopened after being closed for 5 years…this news is so encouraging given the fact that the church is 350 years old…it should Never close its doors again, until Jesus returns! I also rejoice over the testimonies that Pastor preaches the Word! Too many churches don’t follow Biblical truth, nor preaches it: keep it up! Keep this historic and beautiful church open: for the sake of saving souls and glorifying God!
