I had previously ridden in the novice class on my college’s IHSA team and wanted to pick riding back up post-grad. On top of being super knowledgeable about horses and riding, Alex is a terrific instructor. The lesson horses are amazing and well taken care of. Prices are also very reasonable. I highly recommend!!
Alex is a special woman, in many ways. Not only is she talented with her teaching lessons (for an older western rider like me), but she takes excellent care of the horses so that they can live their best life! I have had a couple of horses since middle age up to now as a senior person and have been around to quite a few boarding situations, and there’s no one like her!
Our daughter has grown in leaps and bounds with Alex Barrere as her trainer. Not only has she been provided amazing opportunities to show at both local and ‘A’ rated venues, she has had the opportunity to learn true horsemanship from an amazing horsewoman. Barre Equestrian’s school horses are second to none, as well. We are so very grateful for our amazing barn family and the positive community that we are surrounded by.
Alex is extremely knowledgeable and supports the kids from beginner level and beyond. She also teaches proper horsemanship and safety which is essential to be a properly trained equestrian. My daughter's been riding with her for seven years now and Alex is always there to guide and support my daughter. I highly recommend her and her barn.
Alex at Barre Equestrian is truly wonderful! She is incredibly patient, supportive, and knowledgeable, creating a welcoming environment for riders of all levels. Her calm and encouraging teaching style makes learning both enjoyable and confidence-building. The horses are equally amazing—well cared for, well-trained, and clearly loved. It’s evident that Alex prioritizes both horse welfare and rider development. Alex is not only an excellent instructor but also a fantastic role model. I highly recommend Barre Equestrian to anyone looking for a positive, and rewarding riding experience.
