Macroinvertebrate (River Bug) Survey

You can join staff members to investigate local streams. Participants will look for and identify various macroinvertebrates, also known as river bugs, learning what these creatures indicate about the stream's condition. This activity is open to adults and children aged 10 and above, provided children are accompanied by an adult; no prior experience is necessary.

Pomperaug River Watershed is a non-profit organization in Woodbury dedicated to protecting, sustaining, and restoring the water resources of the Pomperaug Watershed. We utilize community engagement, education, advocacy, and science-based action. Our work includes developing water management tools for municipalities, offering educational resources, and engaging volunteers in environmental research and stewardship projects within the 90 square-mile basin.
