Wines, small plates, and beer in a Waunakee winery
This was our third here and as during the previous two we were extremely happy with our visit. This time we got to meet the owner and we were all very impressed with him. Staff is great, wine is wonderful which my wife her friend enjoyed, and there were several beers option for my buddy and me to choose from. We sat outside and enjoyed a relaxing time with the smell of pine trees topping our experience. We will be back again and again.
We visited Drumlin Ridge Winery on Valentine’s Day, and unfortunately our experience was very disappointing especially considering it was a special occasion. We arrived approximately 15 minutes before closing. As clearly stated on their posted sign, tastings are available until 15 minutes before closing time, so we were still within their stated service hours. I simply asked for a glass of wine, but the employee told us they were already closed and did not want to serve us. I politely mentioned that there were still 15 minutes before closing, but she insisted they were closed. What made the situation even more frustrating was that there were still guests inside with full bottles and glasses, actively enjoying their wine. It wasn’t until a gentleman standing next to her told her they were not officially closed yet that she agreed to serve us and even then, it was done with a very poor attitude. I completely understand that staff may be ready to end their shift, but if a business is still open according to its posted hours, customers should be treated professionally and respectfully. Especially on Valentine’s Day, we expected a welcoming and pleasant atmosphere. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. Very disappointing.
Had always seen the sign from the Interstate during our travels, finally decided to check it out. Cozy seating by the fireplace, perfect for a wine tasting and charcuterie. So grateful they use actual wine glasses for the tastings instead of little plastic cups like some places. Will definitely come again in the warmer months to check out the patio and vineyard side.
Went to this winery recently it’s definitely a hot spot, so expect it to be busy. There was a line just to taste the wine, and honestly, it felt more like a self-serve setup than an actual wine tasting experience. If you go, I’d recommend choosing all your wines at once so you don’t have to keep lining up. And if it’s your first time, definitely ask questions! The staff doesn’t really walk you through the wines unless you start the conversation, so it helps to be curious and speak up. But the staff are super friendly and nice. Although it was just very busy, one of the gentleman explained a lot. It’s still a fun place to go with friends. The vibe is lively and casual more about enjoying the moment than learning all the wine details. If you’re just looking to hang out and sip with good company, it totally works.
I had my bridal shower at Drumlin Ridge and it was the perfect experience! The team was extremely prompt with replies and went over and beyond to help make it a great day, they even helped us put together a custom wine pairing for the event as our theme was “the perfect pair”. We had 25 guests which was a perfect fit for the room, but there was space for overflow. I really appreciated that there wasn’t a room rental and they were flexible with carrying in food, keeping it affordable for a shower! We had it on a Saturday at noon for about 2 hours with 1 hour of set up. Gorgeous venue and tasty wine as well!
