An Exceptional Local Sanctuary As locals with deep family roots in the area, we have a profound appreciation for New England hospitality, and the Mayflower Inn and Spa absolutely blew us away. The team incorporated beautiful, intentional local touches that made the experience feel incredibly personal and grounded. The service here is flawless—the staff consistently went over and above to accommodate our detailed needs with grace and warmth. There is a palpable "if you need it, it’s already there" philosophy woven into the entire stay. The expansive, ancient grounds provide a spectacular backdrop for a restorative getaway, and the wellness center is a true sanctuary. Combined with delicious dining, it was a perfect experience. We are incredibly fortunate to have a world-class retreat like this right in our backyard.

This place is amazing. All other hotels should learn from them. All the employees are helpful and kind and in good moods. And I don’t need to say anything about the exterior, landscaping, gardens, views, you already know that one. You could come here JUST for the pool, you could come here JUST for the restaurant, you could come here JUST for the rooms, JUST for the views. Anyways, I will be back! 10/10 stars

This was my first time dining at this establishment, and I must say, the location was fantastic, nestled in the charming town of Washington, Connecticut. The facilities and ambiance of the restaurant exceeded my expectations, given its upscale nature. The food was simply excellent, and the service was impeccable. We were promptly seated, and our waitress was attentive and friendly. However, there were two significant drawbacks to our experience. Firstly, I had made a reservation through the restaurant’s app, requesting a table in the dining room. Unfortunately, we were seated in the tap room instead. While this was an inconvenience, it was not the most pressing issue. The bigger problem arose because it was a special occasion— a birthday. The reservation application had a section where guests could indicate any special events they were celebrating. I had checked the box for a birthday, and I expected the restaurant to make some special arrangements to commemorate the occasion. It was disappointing because I had anticipated a little something extra to celebrate the occasion . I would have thought that the restaurant’s system would notify the staff about the special occasion and take appropriate measures to make it memorable. Overall, the experience was good, I would have liked to have received a little more recognition and celebration for the special occasion

UPDATED 5/6/26: I have still not received the promised phone call from the spa. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I have been coming to Mayflower for spa services for a few years, spending thousands of dollars over that time on solo visits, moms’ day out getaways, and entertaining clients. I’ve also recommended the spa to many area friends. Imagine my surprise when I called to redeem a gift card last week, and was told that, despite having availability, they no longer allow “locals” to book appointments on the weekend unless you also book a room. For a place that already charges exorbitantly for services, this is offensive. Plus, it meant I could not redeem my gift card, since I can only take this time for myself on weekends. My husband purchased this gift card prior to this policy being put in place. We are still trying to get a refund for the gift card. I tried to contact the Spa Manager, Mary, to discuss, but never received a phone call back.

In December our company celebrated the holidays with an overnight retreat at The Mayflower. From the first arrival to the final departure, the level of care, thoughtfulness, attention to detail, kindness, etc. was extraordinary. Far beyond the beautiful venue, wonderful accommodations, memorable spa treatments, and delicious food, what I’ll truly remember most were the constant smiles I saw from everyone staff member with whom my team and I interacted. We felt remarkably welcomed and genuinely cared for. Our events were well-planned and flawlessly delivered. The Mayflower is a truly special place - and those who work there are a truly special team. Many thanks!
