Providing hospital services and 24-hour emergency care in Sheboygan
Good hospital for when you have an appointment and things scheduled. ER is hit or miss. Ive had great care in all instances but the ER can be very backed up with people even in the hallways (nice HIPPA violation). Way too much wasted space making it "look like a home" and not increasing the beds and ability to service more people.
I would like to thank all of the nurses in the Labor and Delivery department. I welcomed my baby boy May 27th via emergency c-section. Originally the plan was to have a version done since he was breech but due to his heart rate not spiking, Dr. Harper decided he needed to come out that day. And THANK GOD she decided to do this because he had his umbilical cord wrapped around his neck 4 times including a knot. If she didn’t make that call, we might not have gotten our baby boy. During recovery I met some of the most wonderful, passionate, caring, and respectful women. The nurses took such amazing care of me and my baby boy. I cannot thank them enough for making such a traumatic experience, peaceful.
My daughter went to the ER on a Friday at about 5 PM with abdominal pain symptoms. and it was determined that she needed emergency surgery. I arrived as soon as possible and she was already in surgery. No problems with that. Surgery went well. However, upon my arrival as I was allowed back to the ER room she was to come back to, the first thing I saw was a nurse lounging on a gurney in the hallway eating a sandwich and chips. Also saw that most of the ER rooms were wide open. I saw one person with their wrists tied to the bed writhing about and another with a beaten bloody face. Doors wide open for everyone to see. There was no concern for the privacy of these people. Next, I was told that since it was "after hours" that I couldn't not wait for my daughter to come out of surgery in the surgical area waiting room or the recovery area. I had to stay in the ER area because no one was monitoring the surgery waiting room at this time. Why did it need to be monitored? So, instead of being able to talk to the surgeon in person he called us on the phone to tell us she was in recovery and okay. When my daughter was brought back from surgery to her original ER room the nurse was puzzled (as was I) that the room was already set up with a new bed for a new ER patient. So while my daughter was still recovering from general anesthesia and abdominal surgery they had her get up and walk from the hallway to the new bed with all of the contraptions connected to her rather than remove the empty bed from the room. Finally, and almost unbelievable to me, is that she was discharged without being offered a wheelchair and without any after care paperwork. The room she was in was in the very back of the ER area. We had to walk down 4 hallways to get to the reception area and then to the car. I didn't even see a wheelchair or I would have grabbed it for her. I have never experienced such an unprofessional and unsafe ER hospital environment as I experienced here.
Beautiful facilities. Opulent! Lavish! Fit for royalty. I wonder if this is part of the reason our medical bills are so high.
My daughter just gave birth to her third child here at the new Aurora Medical Center of Sheboygan. It’s a very beautiful and welcoming atmosphere. I noticed that the Dr.s, nurses, and the assistants were very personable. It made my daughter feel completely comfortable. The quality of care is an A+. Everyone is friendly and kind. I like that the hospital is updated with the best technology. Amenities are totally awesome. It’s like having your own personal suite. The food has a little to be desired but still okay food
