Tower with panoramic views in Kettle Moraine State Forest
Very cool tower! We parked in the main parking lot. There are restrooms and picnic tables there as well. The trail is a 3.5 mile loop. The tower is close to the main parking lot but all the stairs on the trail to get you there make it feel longer. The tower is so cool. The views are amazing. Well worth the climb. Walking back to the parking lot was a lot faster being all down hill.
A little bit of a hike, but the views are worth it. Good way to get some steps.
Visited on a winter day, and it was great! Only went up to tower and back, did not take the loop. Parking lot was good condition, loop trail was just a hard-to-see path (fourth photo). Trail stairs up to tower were in good shape, no railing however so I recommend a hiking pole. The actual tower was in great shape, just a few stair treads were snow-covered and slick. There is a neat sign pointing out different sights, and I could make out the power plant in Sheboygan, and of course the various hills of the Kettle Moraine. Very serene!
We visited Parnell Tower last Sunday and had a great time. The hike in was peaceful, and the tower itself offered some really nice views. The trees hadn’t fully changed colors yet, but you could tell fall was on its way — it still looked beautiful. The trail was easy to follow with a few hills and roots here and there, but nothing too difficult. The tower felt sturdy and well maintained, and the view from the top made the climb totally worth it. It wasn’t very crowded, which made it even better. Overall, a really nice spot to enjoy nature and get a great view of the Kettle Moraine area. I’d definitely go back, especially once the fall colors are in full swing.
The climb was moderately challenging, with numerous stairs winding their way to the summit. While it required some effort, the ascent was manageable and certainly rewarding. Upon reaching the top, I was greeted by breathtaking panoramic views that made the journey worthwhile. Each direction offered a stunning perspective of the surrounding landscape, from lush greenery to distant kettles. Next time, I plan to explore the area more thoroughly, taking the time to hike around and fully appreciate the beauty surrounding the tower. The experience of climbing the tower itself is exceptional, with its charming architecture and the thrill of being so high up, all while soaking in the gorgeous vistas that stretch on forever.
