Formed in 2014, The War and Treaty is a musical duo led by husband-and-wife team Michael Trotter Jr. and Tanya Blount-Trotter. Their sound blends elements of Southern soul, gospel, country, and rock-and-roll, driven by powerful vocal performances and collaborative songwriting.
The duo earned widespread recognition following their 2018 full-length release Healing Tide, which led to being named Emerging Act of the Year by the Americana Music Association. They later released their follow-up album, Hearts Town, on Rounder Records.
Known for high-energy live shows, The War and Treaty have toured with artists such as Brandi Carlile and Jason Isbell, opened for Al Green, and performed at major music festivals across the country as well as the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards.
