Local library offering reading sessions and a book sale in Middlebury
Lovely library for this small town. Great staff at the front desk. Gentleman was trying to help us locate an address in town. We did find it after asking at town hall. Bought an art book from the book sale shelf. Worth stopping here!
I was stunned by the lack of basic emotional intelligence displayed by your staff today. My 5-year-old niece was excluded from a reading session and reduced to tears over a minor administrative oversight because her working mother forgot to sign her up. She was there with her grandmother and literally called me from the library on FaceTime so I could cheer her up and sat there patiently waiting to catch up with her friends. If your employees lack the temperament to handle a toddler with grace or the common sense to prioritize a child’s well-being over a sign-up sheet, they are fundamentally ill-suited for a community-facing role. It is embarrassing that an adult would find it necessary to power-trip at the expense of a five-year-old. I would not call this a true community space considering there was no culture of community to be found. Hope this woman’s day is as bad as my 5 year old nieces’ has been.
