Serving bagels with cream cheese, coffee, and smoothies in Middlebury
I used to love coming to this place when it was The Local Gourmet Cafe. But after the management(?)/name change, I felt like my portion size was much smaller than it used to be, particularly with the lox bagel, which only had a couple thin slices of salmon. The taste was still good, though.
Ordered a bagel tray for an event. Bagels were presented beautifully and with a generous amount of cream cheese. Eventhough I didn’t ask, they provided utensils and plates which was very helpful. To top it all off they were ready for pick up earlier than expected which was perfect for an early morning order. Would absolutely recommend. Will be my new go to for any event.
The counter person didn't know what kind of coffee they were using as she limply pointed to the menu. The coffee I got was mediocre at best, the service was soo slow I had finished my coffee by the time my wife got her smoothie. Expensive and slow, I will not be going back anytime soon.
Ordered a BBQ Chicken Melt on Sourdough. The chicken was supposed to be shredded and was sliced instead. The bread was barely toasted and not like a grilled cheese melt at all. To top it off, I was given the heel of the bread. I’ve never seen a food establishment serve the heel of a loaf of bread. Super disappointing considering what the place used to be.
Four of us visited the cafe at 10:00 am on a Wednesday. It was bustling & busy but we were greeted warmly at the counter by the staff. We placed a variety of orders including home fries. We all immensely enjoyed our meal. From the egg, bacon cheese sandwich to the avocado toast with chick peas & sirracha honey drizzle, to the delicious home fries. The Omar brand high end coffee was rich tasting. I will definitely return.
