Mequon nature preserve along the Milwaukee River
The only way to find this place is to follow your Google maps. There are no signs to direct your way. I suspect it's because the neighborhood it's found in is the sort that prefers to keep the commoners from visiting. Either way, it's a wonderful tract of land that follows the Milwaukee River.
Beautiful spot in the city to see all kinds of wild life. Good place for little walks especially to take children!
We kayak through here quite often. There is a peer across the river at Villa Grove Park to put the kayak in. It is a beautiful place to kayak quiet and full of bird life. It is above the dam in Thiensville so the river is wide and quiet. It is a hidden gem in a populated area.
