I want to start by saying that the customer service I received at Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital on Town Hall Road was excellent. Everyone I interacted with was kind, courteous, and professional. Unfortunately, the experience with the imaging process and, especially, the turnaround time for my X-ray results has been extremely disappointing. I went in Monday morning, August 24, and had three sets of X-rays taken: abdomen, hand, and jaw. The hand X-ray was ordered following a UTV accident because of a specific injury and the possibility of a fracture. The other X-rays were for ongoing pain, and since I was already going to be there, my doctor and I decided to have everything completed at the same visit. The imaging appointment itself took close to two hours. I understand that a student was assisting, which I have absolutely no issue with because everyone has to learn. However, there were also mechanical issues during the process, making what I expected to be a relatively routine imaging visit considerably longer. My abdominal X-ray was interpreted and sent to my doctor's office by Tuesday morning, and my doctor and I were able to review those results. However, it is now Thursday, approximately 72 hours after the X-rays were taken and neither my doctor nor I have received the results of the hand or jaw X-rays. After confirming with my doctor's office that they had not received them, I called the hospital. I was told that the images are in the system, but the results have not yet been completed. I was also told that the people who interpret the images are not located at this hospital and that X-ray results can potentially take up to seven business days. At no point during my visit was I told that routine X-ray interpretation could take anywhere near that long. In nearly 48 years, I personally have never experienced an X-ray taking more than about 24 hours to receive results. What is especially concerning is that one of these X-rays was specifically ordered to determine whether I may have a fractured hand. After 72 hours, I am still walking around without knowing whether I have a broken bone, and after calling, I still don't have a clear timeline or an actionable next step. I was given a number for a liaison but was also told that person may not speak with me because I am the patient. I also don't understand how one set of X-rays performed during the same visit could be interpreted and released promptly while two others remain unread days later. Again, the people I dealt with were very pleasant, and I don't want that to be overlooked. But excellent customer service cannot make up for a diagnostic process that leaves a patient potentially waiting several days to find out whether they have a fracture. At the 72-hour mark, with no clear resolution after following up myself, this has been a very frustrating and concerning experience. Update: It's now 09/01/2026 - More than a full week after x-rays and I STILL DO NOT HAVE RESULTS.
